The Lisburn Community Fire Hall Fair

It is that time of year.  The fair started on Wednesday and Gloria and Baylor went over.  Thursday all three of us went over and Baylor got his bowl of chicken corn soup and ice cream.  This year he choose black raspberry.  

We managed to keep it to four games tonight which was still $20.00.  

Friday Meme and Pap took him over to play games.  They were gone four about 45 minutes and he brought back four new stuffies.  And somehow we managed to get out of going on Saturday!  I do love the fair but this year I am not able to eat anything there or go on the rides.  I am hoping next year I will be more up to it and we will enjoy all four nights together! 

My Fishboy

Baylor has made amazing progress in the water this summer.  While we have not gone swimming as much as we did last year because it has not been as hot, he took two swimming class sessions and managed to learn to swim under water.  Having the goggles really helped him go under and now he loves it.  He even wants to make it to the bottom but he has not quite figured out how to stop floating.  We take a long water squirter and he hand under hand 'walks' his way to the bottom. 

Gloria even invited the girls over to join them in the pool.  

He can make it a good length of the pool underwater.  Not bad for a kid who hated to bob at the beginning of this summer.  

Double Rainbow

Baylor was out playing with the girls and it started to rain.  They asked him over to play in their house and I was excited for some quiet time at the house.  It is actually his first time over there without me and he had a great time.  He played with them, watched a movie and even had dinner with them.  They called me to tell me about the double rainbow over Lisburn.  It was beautiful as was my mommy time. As was when my little man came running inside to tell me about his evening.

Saturday we headed to the picnic and we were blessed with a beautiful day; not too hot and not raining.  Heather and family were on vacation as were a few other families with kids so there were not many children this year for Baylor to play with.  Thankfully Emily and Zoe were still here.  

After eating lunch (the pulled pork was one of two meat options and went over very well), Lynda had the kids games but only two participants.  

The clothespin drop was a challenge for both kids but Zoey kept picking hers up for do overs so I think she won that game because of her extra chances. 

The next game was the candy hidden under the whipped cream.  The kids did not get the concept of just shoving  your face down to the bottom to get the candy.  They were move of the lick like kittens style and were taking forever to get to the bottom.  

I finally encouraged Baylor to just go for it and mash his face right to the bottom.  

And finally we had a winner!  

Then we had the peanut toss.  There were two red peanuts and they landed right next to each other and Zoey grabbed them right up,  Then they had to gather as many peanuts as possible and Baylor won that part.

Baylor won the big prize, yippee!  We will probably still have them next year.  

Then we got the bingo games going.  We play until the prizes are gone so pretty much everyone goes home with more prizes than they brought, like seven prized or more each!  But we have fun and that it why we play. 

Zoey sang for everyone like she did at my reunion last month.  She was quite cute!

We did the raffles of the back to school bag, the cleaning supplies, French's items, the Frank's box, and the Airborne/Mucinex box.  (Mom and I made all the gift bags this year)   We announced the winners of the candy jar and watermelon.  The final game was the cookie walk.  We ran out of participants before we ran out of cookies!  Then it was time to clean up and head home.  After so many years we have this down and we all know our rolls.   Things were cleaned up pretty fast and we were headed home.  Until next year!  

Dutch Wonderland

Gloria, Baylor, and I meet Heather, John, Connor, and Brigid at Dutch Wonderland for a day of fun.  And it was fun.  The kids are seven, five and three and between them they rode nearly every ride there.  We never made it to the water park but it was really not warm enough for it anyway.  The weather could not have been more perfect!  Brigid it still a bit short for a few rides but she only had to sit out one or two and we took turns taking care of her.  

The boys went on the first ride they saw and Heather joined them.  They all rocked that boat.  

To be fair we found a Brigid sized ride and they all enjoyed it!  Who does not love whipping around a corner?

I love seeing their happy faces!!  

The boys rode the swings while John took Brigid it a ride where a house spun around the riders sitting inside  I am glad I did not have to be a part of that!

And then off to wait for the monorail. We missed the one sitting there when we walked up so we had a good wait for it to return.  

We took the last car which we could all fit in the the kids had the bunks in the back.  We waved to all the people we could get to look at us! 

Baylor of course spied the cow and had to milk it. 

The all shared in driving responsibilities.

After lunch of pizza, loaded french fries, and more soda than we usually drink in a week, we headed off to the dinosaur island.  

We visited each dinosaur and between the boys I think they knew each one.  Which was good because not all of them were signed.  

We had the kids choose between riding the cars on rails or the boats and they chose the boats so we waited in line until it was our turn.  

We were able to see all the dino backsides on our tour.  

We let the kids play in the sand pit for a bit while we sat and talked.  

And then I introduced Baylor to Dip*N Dots.  He chose cotton candy and after he got over the fact it did not look like ice cream he enjoyed it. 

Until the sun burned is eyes. 

We convinced the boys to ride the pandas with Brigid.  

Baylor and Brigid did the diggers together.  

Heather and John took the kids on a small roller coaster and they all loved it.  Heather is like me, we love having fun and whooping it up with the kids on rides.  

Heather, John and Brigid went in one log on the flume and I took the boys on another  Gloria stood on the bridge and took some photos.  

Then they went on a ride with a different perspective.  They laid down and went around and up and down.  I am glad I had my perspective but they enjoyed it, even Brigid.   

While they went on the bigger roller coaster, Brigid and I took a few selfies.  

Then they went on the big slide. 

Baylor went a bit slow at the start and Connor won the race down. 

Then we made our way to the train. 

After the train the boys went on the roller coaster and we shared some Rita's while the boys were rolling and coasting. There had to be a perk to having to wait for them. 

Then we made our way to the boats out on Rt 30.  Baylor was at first convinced he would be able to steer but quickly gave up the dream.  But he still enjoyed the ride.  

Connor went with his dad. 

Gloria followed up the rear. 

Brigid and Heather were in their own luxury boat being the beauty queens they are. Baylor and I saw a real turtle in the water and it was a good sized one.  

Then we headed out on the Sky Lift to go across the park.  We left the stroller in the parking area and paired off again.  Are you riding with me?  

It was tricky getting on but no one fell over so we were in the clear. 

We had a nice view from up there.  

We took another ride on the small coaster but I took my turn this time. 

Then I took a turn on the large coaster.  It was a fun trip around the tracks.

We took the Sky Lift back but Heather stayed on the ground and chased us with the camera. 

She told me she took a picture of a man holding a purse that matched his shirt.  And it did!  

Baylor was trying to convince Gloria to let him play arcade games and she would not budge.  See the sad face? 

We were not quite ready to leave so they hit the rocking boat again.  And I took the boys on a space ship ride. 

For our last treat I bought the kids Dole Whip pineapple ice cream.  It was amazing! And an amazing day!
