Daylight Savings

I woke up at what I thought was 5:20 because I changed my clock before going to bed.  I heard Gloria getting ready and she is usually out of the house at that time so I got up to check the clocks in the kitchen because I changed them too.  They all said 4:20.  Apparently my clock changes itself.  And now I was up and so was Eddy and Grimm.  Baylor was not coming home until much later in the day so I kept busy with usual stuff: laundry, dishes and other cleaning.  I took a short break on the bench at some point and Grimm came over looking for treats.  He looks like he is a starving cat, especially from this angle.

Baylor came home around lunch time and we seriously spent the rest of the day on the couch watching Harry Potter movies.  He wanted to watch the last one and I talked him into watching them all in order before we watch the ending.  I have never seen the last two movies myself and I was looking forward to seeing the movies in order. He is doing well keeping up with them but I still have to help him out with plot lines and names.  We did not move from our places all afternoon and he fell asleep on the couch at 7:10 and finished The Half-Blood Prince by myself.  We may need to watch that one again because he missed most of it.  We took a few dark selfies to send to Mama. I rarely sit still for that long and was only able to because I am working on embroidery pieces for a gift for Heather.  But it was a good thing and good time with my little man.

No Band Wagons in 2016

I am not a bandwagon jumper but I will always support people who are.  One of my co-workers is a get healthy jumper every year and I happily support her.  She was already lamenting on some changes, because you know, change is hard, and this popped up in my FB feed.  I sent it to her and she had a laugh.

And this is probably why I don't jump, I fall off too easily.

I am trying to be more in front of the camera this year and it is hard to smile when I am by myself.  I am not a Kardashian and selfies, alone, are odd.   I will keep trying.

After Christmas sale shopping packages are arriving!!

Bread was super happy rising in the bowl before I formed it and put it away for the night.  I am back to making bread for the house again.  It is just better.  And I still only like the one slice, right out of the oven.  Thankfully Gloria is like her dad and loves bread!  And to a small extent, so does Baylor.  He loves jelly bread, strawberry jam with no lumps of course.

Back to the Grind

Back to work for me and back to school and homework for Baylor.  And our usual silliness.

Mom bought Baylor Sorry for Christmas and he loves playing it!! I was never a board game girl but I always could play this game.

New Wax Warmer

After Halloween I put out an owl wax warmer at work and today at the Goodwill I found this lovely reindeer for $3.00.  Say goodbye to the owl for a few weeks!

Signs of Hallowe'en to Come

I usually end up doing dishes in the early morning, with my pumpkin spice dish soap of course!  Well, I found this lovely creature in the silverware drainer and I took it as a sign I was not to do dishes this morning.  It did not survive the hot sauna and following disposal action in the sink.  I do feel bad but once a spider has crossed into my space, it is survival of the fittest.  This time I won.

I brought my dress up bins into work for two people to borrow and caught Megan the moose, Cathy in pink and Colin in Elvis glasses and curly wig.  No Facebooking but OK on here.

I can only have my little Jack burning for a few more days and then it will be moved over for a red orange owl.

Gloria was in Allentown for three days and wanted to go out to dinner when she got home.  We went to Baylor's favorite Texas Roadhouse. He could not get his virgin strawberry daquire because apparently someone forgot to make it virgin at one point and got some kid drunk. Poop.  We usually take a photo there and he was is such a goofy mood.  He was showing me how he can draw a star without looking and was just a fun, goofball!

He was happy to see Mama again and went home in her car.  Welcome home Mama!

A Quiet Saturday To Myself

My parents stopped over around 9:45 to drop off some stuff and pick up other stuff they were going to take to Heather for me. While I would have loved a day at the campground, I had plans for the day and did not want to change them.  After they left I took Baylor to Kartikey's house to spend the day with his family.  I visited for about an hour, and had delicious chai tea with Greeva while the boys played.  After I went home, I gave the floors some much needed attention with the broom, vacuum and mop.  Yippee for me. What a way to spend my day, alone.  But I also started on the balloon pinatas for the Halloween party in October.  They take the longest to prepare and I had to the time to get started.

Around the time Gloria was going to come home I stopped to pull a weed along the side of the house.  Instantly, my jaw still tingles when I write this, my wrist flared up and stung.  I must have pulled on some stinging nettle.  I put an ice pack on it and took some benedryl just in case.  It hurt for well over an hour.

Thankfully I was able to handle the camera so I could take some photos of the gorgeous moon rising over a neighbor's barn.

Baylor spent the day with Kartikey's aunts, uncles, parents, grandparents, and cousins.  It was a kind of holiday/holy day, a day to honor your siblings. Greeva explained it that she would bless her brother and he in turn would bless his sisters.  Baylor tried on the tunic but not being used to it, changed back into his clothes.  But he participated in the ceremony, which I was happy about.  I love that he is learning first hand about other cultures and things they celebrate.  And that he has a good friend named Kartikey!

Adding To the Beach Bathroom

The first thing I did when I got home was print a few photos from both vacations but especially a picture of Baylor on the beach to add to the collection in the main bathroom.  The small white frame on the bottom right is Eddy on the beach in 2008 I believe it was.  The one above it with the store bought frame that says Rehoboth was from 2010 when he was 17 months old and the first time the ocean touched his toes.  The blue one below it was from 2012 on his second day at the beach. We collected the sand and shells and decorated the frame together.  The upper left photo is from 2014, I bought the frame and added the sea star.  And the striped frame is 2015 which I bought along with the two signs up there as well.

I plan on adding to this wall for each time we go to the sea, as a reminder to him every time he stands there to pee, the memories of the time spent at the sea.  I am planning ahead!

I even added a map of the town to the opposite wall.

Gloria took him for a hair cut this week and they did a better job at cutting it longer on the top and the sides short.  He loves it! And I need to watch my eyes when I give him kisses, I end up getting stabbed in the eye with a spike!

Oh what a beautiful morning!  I like the look of the long thin clouds this morning.

Meme and Pap came down for an appointment and brought Eddy home.  We have not seen her in almost a month and we all missed her very much.  I am not sure she was ready to be done with vacation but she settled in right away.  At 14, she is still a beautiful looking girl.  Her puppy looks have not really faded.

Baylor's First Sleep Over!

Saturday morning Baylor and I found our first mantis' of 2015.  With at least 13 egg cases I was expecting to see more but these two were a good sign we will have a least a few in the gardens this summer.

They were just tiny, little bugs!

The last couple of evenings I was busy making some cookies for a co-worker.  She was hosting a bridal shower for her oldest daughter who likes foxes.  I saw the cookies online and showed them to her.  I told her I would love to make them for the shower because, well, they are a bit fancy to make just for us.  They turned out great I thought!  I offered to deliver them on Saturday and with Baylor going to Kartikey's for a playdate that turned into a sleepover, it worked out even better.

I packed up the cookies and Baylor and we headed to Kartikey's.  They have a nice apartment in a new complex.  Their front door leads out to a grassy area which the boys used to play while Greeva and I drank delicious spiced tea her mother-in-law blends back in India.  It was amazing!   The boys were excited to see each other, even though it had only been one day since the last day of school.  Greeva got them ready for the pool when I was leaving and kept in touch with me all day.  Of course I was a bit concerned since he had never spent the night anywhere but in the end he did great!

I drove to Cathy's and then stopped at Sharp Shopper and The Christmas Tree Shoppe for some kid free shopping.  It was amazing because I was not rushed like I am when I shop over lunch.   When I got home it was just Eddy, Grimm and myself for the rest of the day. Weird, quiet, and lonely.  I missed having Baylor around but I did get a few things done around the house.  I think Eddy was even lonely and found solace with her water dish.

Greeva took the boys swimming, to a movie, The Age Of Ultron, and out to dinner.  They watched some TV at their place and had a pillow fight before bed.  She said other than being hot in his fleece jammies, he slept well.

I did not have to get him until around 9:30 so I checked out the garden a bit.  The black raspberries looked like they are going to give a bumper crop this year.  I think Grandpa would be proud of the patch.  It has come along way from the two sad canes that survived the last time I had to move them.

The wineberries may actually survive and produce berries this year.

After I picked up Baylor we headed to the flea market to see if the Lego guy was there.  And he was.  Baylor picked up a Hulk buster for himself and Kartikey and a few other new figures.  I love this vendor because Baylor really only wants the minifigs anyway.  And six for $10 is a steal!

Baylor asked for ice cream which gave him some serious brain freeze!  It was good to have him back, chatting, laughing, and being his crazy little self.  And good for him on that first big hurdle, sleeping at a friend's house.

Just Another Night of Fun

Nearly every day when I pick Baylor up at COF, there is a pile of airplanes on the floor under his backpack.  Some fly, some don't, there are singles and some doubles of two planes stacked and taped together.  They come in all sizes as well.  Tonight after homework he wanted to make some more planes so we both set out folding paper.  While I was working on a cake for the Spring Fair he made an itty, bitty, tiny plane.  Pretty small folding for those chubby fingers!  And pretty impressive as well!

I signed up for cookies and a cake for the cake/cookie walk.  I made snickerdoodles at Baylor's request but the cake was up to me.  It is a boxed white cake with blue cotton candy frosting (I made that myself with cotton candy sugar) and cotton candy sprinkles.

Since it had to travel, I put it on a Dollar Store plate and used paper umbrellas to keep the cling film from sticking to the frosting. Baylor wanted to lick the cake!  I guess I should make him one some day.

Poor Eddy

Sunday was spent watching Baylor play video games in the basement.  It was really cold outside and sitting downstairs we found out how much cold air was coming in the door frame.  Poor Eddy was on the floor shivering and since she wanted to be with us, there was not I could do other than cover her up!

And video games must have worn him out because he crashed all crooked on the couch.  One reason he sleeps in the family bed is because I cannot toss him up into his bed when he falls asleep somewhere else.   Poor baby.  Only this baby has not stopped growing!
