Greeva asked me to teach her how to make a pie so I did. We made peach pie because they are ripe now and so delicious in a pie! She said she will likely phone a friend if she wants to make another one which is fine by my. I am always happy to help bake!
Roxie loves people but she does not understand that not all people like to be stood on and loved. I try to keep her down as much as I can though. Greeva was good about it and tried to love on Roxie, though she is not really a dog person.
While the pie was baking Greeva taught me how to make one of Baylor's favorite dishes she makes him. I don't know the name but it has cauliflower and peas in it and he loves it. She was pretty impressed I had everything she needed for it, down to black mustard seeds.
She made roti as well. It was a bit tougher to make with my rolling pin and all whole wheat flour but they were good never the less.
She was very pleased with her pie when it came out of the oven. I found her a pie dish that came with a woven carrier at the thrift store as a gift for her pie making.
She made spiced rice and a yogurt sauce for the rice as well. OMG, it was such a delicious meal!!
After she left we went to the farm market and saw turkeys walking in a yard on the way there.

I had enough peaches to make two more smaller pies. Greeva said the pie was a hit with her family and coworkers.

I met Sam and Joanne and Bean and Sally at a local park where we took the dogs for a splash in the creek. Jake got loose once and Sally was able to catch him for me. Roxie did really well in the water and happily ran around with a ball in her mouth just enjoying the water. They were both on long leads which was cumbersome for me but totally necessary.

Sam is the only one who will not run off too far from Joanne so he gets to be off leash. He likes to chase his toys but then let them float down the creek. Then we send Bean or Jake to retrieve it.
The walk down and up from the creek was rough but we all made it.
Sunday the boys had fun in the pool. We upgraded to one a bit larger and had it only partially full until the guy could come to level it out. The boys had fun either way.
I made a table for the fire pit area with some of the pallet wood I have. I am quite proud of my work! I have never built anything before and in the last year I made Jake's food stand and this table. Now we can put our s'mores stuff on the table instead of on a chair.
September is when I have to start on my pinatas. Not sure what they will be this year but they will be nice and round for since I used punch balloons. I think next time I will try not to suspend them because it made a pointy end.

Our friend Sam and Joanne participated in a fund raiser for local animal programs and a few of us went to support them.
The animals participated in a fashion show. I think there around 20 participants including dogs, cats, and a rabbit. Some of the dogs were local celebrities like Libre and Zeke (a police d.og that was shot during an arrest and never let go of the person even after being shot)
But we were there for Sam and Joanne. It was a nice event and I went home with a gift certificate to Canine Clubhouse which I won in the drawings. I was so excited. Joanne won a basket of lottery tickets.

Rare trip to the dog park. I miss the people but not having to be on dog watch all the time.
It was muddy and I got loved by a few dogs, including Bean and went home covered in paw prints. It took a few washings and scrubbings to get the dirt out.
A Facebook memory came up and it was funny because Baylor wore a Ravens shirt that day to school. I had him recreate the pose.
My old friend caught me on my way back to work from the pike. It goes so slow through town but are usually pretty short.

We had the Aunt's meeting at Mom's house and I took the dogs. They were pretty well behaved and Jake liked the view from Mom's picnic table.

Back home they were a bit wiped out from not napping all morning.
We went for a walk with Sam and Einstein around City Island and over the walking bridge. They did not pull too much and were pretty good with it all.
Our buddies were right with us, either in front or behind.
We stopped for several water breaks and since there was a walk going on we had access to some extra water which was nice since I forgot to bring any!

While the dogs and I were walking, Gloria and Baylor picked up Baylor's saxophone. He expressed an interest in playing in the band and we were excited because he usually does not want to do any group programs. He has to stick it out for this year at least and then he can decide if he wants to continue. Let the Squeak Week commence!
We don't know Roxie's exact birth date of course but we know it was in September sometime so we chose the 16th to celebrate. She rocks a scarf! We are so glad we have her, she is a sweet, beautiful little dog. She is not a true cuddle dog but rather likes to stand or just lay on top of us for love and attention. She is very smart and if I were a better dog trainer, I am sure she would be a well behaved girl I may be able to have off leash at times. She loves playing with Jake and knows when to give him space when he is being a butt. She never gets into trouble at daycare and loves almost everyone. She can be leary of men and still barks at Dave every time she sees him.
I made her a meatloaf with sweet potato frosting for her birthday cake.
Everyone was there to celebrate, even Grimm.
We lit a candle and sang happy birthday to her.

Jake still has a problem with inappropriate chewing when left unattended. Cardboard I do not get too excited about but three part DVDs put me over the edge.
Roxie has a sock. I am not sure why these other people in my house do not pick up their socks but they don't.
We had a fire alarm go off at work and Hollie and I sent some Snapchats to Tamela and my mom.
The Fall Fair was where Greeva and I meet five years ago so we too had to share a Snap.

Roxie loves the little people that come to our house and wants to be near them all the time. Some of his friends tolerate it more than others. Kartikey is getting better with her. She can be a bit overwhelming!

So I went to close the new pool which never got opened because there is a leak in the bottom that Gloria tried to fix and was mildly successful. I put the cover on and strung the wire through and came up short! So I found another cable and made this one a bit longer with some extra from the second one.
Greeva came over and we were talking about her upcoming trip to India and missing her father. It has been hard on her as she was very close to him and he left a large hole in her heart.

I canned some more tomatoes. This time I kept the skins to dry and use for extra tomato flavor.
And I started the sauerkraut for New Years. Hopefully it will not spoil this year like last year's batch did.

Gloria and I sorted Baylor's clothes and they were everywhere. The dogs had to be right by me in the thick if it. Not really helping of course but they love to be beside me.
In Fall I want to try to make a different soup every Sunday. We will see how that goes but I made Chicken and Dumpling for my first soup.
Sally told me Bean loves tomato skins but my dogs were not interested in them at all. So I pulverized them into a powder to add extra tomato flavor to tomato things.

We found a mantis on the patio so I relocated her outside the fence so the dogs would not kill her.

The next day the mantis was back in the patio and I had to move her again. The dogs would have a field day with her, like they do with toads! I relocate them as well.
She found another one. Most of the time I rescue the sock and we move on. But if her and Jake get a hold of one together, the sock is often a tug toy and destroyed before I can get to it.
