Our mini vacation did not start out very well with me tipping over my freshly poured cup of coffee all over the newly cleaned floor.
And Jake getting a hold of another roll of toilet paper and making confetti out of it. I love you Jake!!
We picked up Kartikey and headed south to Massanutten, VA for a quick break from life in PA. Gloria lost her job unexpectedly and she really wanted to get out of the house for a vacation and her friend had a time share we could use before she sold it. It was a gorgeous fall drive down.
We stopped at Burger King for dinner because they have veggie patties for Kartikey to eat.
We found our place, in the dark, on a mountain with no street lights. And the boys went crazy playing with the large tub. They are kids who just sat in the car for several hours and who love to be silly together.
I had brought some Halloween DVDs to watch because I don't usually have time to watch movies at home and I did not know what we would find to watch on their system. I do love a good movie by the fire!
The boys mostly watched with me, Gloria watched TV in the bedroom.
About an hour after I went to sleep I had horrible chest pain with shaking, vomiting, sweating and a lot of pain! It was the second, but worst, chest pain/pressure I had in the week and I was pretty sure it was gallstones on the move. Mental note to call the Dr on Monday but in the mean time, it was morning fun on the balcony deck with these two braving the cold in the jammies.
And playing in the tub some more.
We were on the second floor of the place and it was a nice space to spend the weekend.
We went down to one of the restaurants on the mountain for breakfast. The boys split a pancake order because the pancakes were HUGE. We had a great waitress who really looked out for us.
When they were done eating and Gloria was still drinking coffee and finishing her breakfast I took the boys outside to see the sun and area around the restaurant.
And took lots of photos of them being goof balls to send to Kartikey's parents.
They have a lot of rock landscaping which is irresistible to kids. I used to love climbing and jumping every rock I could when I was their age.
They must not have had a killing frost yet because the trees were only barely changed in color but it was still a really beautiful time of year.
We had a tiny creek running behind the townhouses and of course they wanted to play down there. So we did.
We walked up to the culverts and then back down.
Then we got ready to go to the water park, another reason why we were excited to come here.
And it was impressive. A lazy river, two hot tubs, and the huge water fortress, two huge body slides and a surfing area.
The only tried the surfing twice and Baylor really did well with it. If he could hear the guy over all the noise he would have been able to get up on he knees without holding on with his hands I think.
The one hot tub was open to the outside and it was nice enough outside to want to be in the sun while in the hot tub. Gloria spent most of her time out there. I was on Mom duty of course and spent most of my time with the boys and only some of my time relaxing.
The boys loved the lazy river only they made it less lazy by running through the course hitting all the good spots faster.
There were not a lot of vegetarian options and while we found some snack things for him, by 4:00 he was hangry so we left for the room to shower, change and go out to eat.
First they had to play with their new guns their earned with their arcade tickets. It is always fun gathering up ping pong balls!!
We drove to Harrisonburg to have dinner at A Taste of India. I looked it up because I wanted to find somewhere to eat that would have food Kartikey is used to and would be able to find vegetarian options as well.
The people there were wonderful with us non-Indians and helped us pick some very delicious meals.
Baylor had a meat samosa, he thought it was beef. It was really lamb and he loved it.
Sunday morning we packed up and headed to a diner for breakfast.
Baylor's usual is Belgium waffle and Kartikey gets pancakes or French Toast.
When we got home the leaves were changing.
And Grimm was happy to see us.
