Weekend Fun

We had no plans for the weekend, which is completely unusual for us.  So I thought I should tackle some cleaning, which is an unusual urge for me also! In order to put off the regular cleaning I decided to clean the plant that lives in the window.  He was dusty and needed unwound anyway.  And the floor beneath the cabinet needed vacuuming.  The window looks so naked without its usual plant treatment.

I put the plant, which is a child of a plant my grandpa had in the sun porch for as long as I can remember, on the table under the canopy and carefully untangled the vines.  One was dying and had to be removed but one was so long I had to loop it to keep it all together hanging up.

It is pretty sparse in some sections but is could probably wrap into the living room if I wanted it to.

After washing off the leaves and cleaning up on and around the cabinet we headed to Oak Grove where we arrived just in time for the fresh spring rolls.  Ice cream was first of course.  We bought some fresh corn, peaches, pickle sized cucumbers, large carrots and plums as well.  We hung out at home the rest of the day. I was pretty lazy sitting on the couch a lot but since I have to keep my hands busy I worked on a scarf request while I vegged out.

Sunday we had talked about going to the Lego guy at market and not other plans after that.  Grimm loves looking out the windows and sunning his tummy as well.  He is such a good kitty!!

And so handsome!

We went to market and while we were there Joey asked if Baylor wanted to come over and play with Landon and Ryder.  He said heck yeah to a double friend play date. He picked out a Flash for Landon and a Minecraft for Ryder.  I picked out a Posion Ivy and Scarlet Witch for my desk collection and he found several other figures for himself including a Deadpool set.

On the way in and on the way out we had to wait for the train, naturally.  It is the shortest one we ever see, just four cars.  It has been many years since Baylor wanted to ride the train.

I dropped him off at Landon's and headed home to hopefully get some more work done.  I wandered over to the blackberries and was surprised by how many were ripe.  I had to go inside for a bowl!

And some were HUGE!

And some were covered with Japanese Beatles.  I left those for the bugs to enjoy.

The tomatoes are finally starting to turn red!!

Even the tiny ones.

The basil trees are taller than the tomatoes!  Good thing they go so well together.

I found two cucumbers hiding in the vines as well.  It was a good harvest from my little garden.

I finally rewound the plant in the window and it looks much better again to me.  Now I want to hang some hanging plants from the ceiling but I think Gloria would freak.  Maybe I will put in a shelf over the window and hang the plants from there.  Because I need another project!!

Round Up

7-25

This week is on track for another hot one.  It was 97 when I started off to get Baylor and 98 when I picked him up.  And a cool 96 in the shade on part of the drive home!

I do love playing with Snapchat, even at work!

Sunset tonight and Baylor said I should take a photo of it.  The sun was actually setting behind us but the sky was still very pretty on the opposite side of the earth.

This is where the sun was really setting, behind the house.

We had a quick rain/thunderstorm and checked the gauge and there was 1.5 inches of rain.  Now to be fair we did have rain on Saturday and I never checked it so it may not all have been from tonight but we will take it.  It has been so dry here this summer!

A negative photo of some orange lilies.

7-26

Diner at Tokyo Diner with these two.  Baylor loves it!! And Gloria wanted to celebrate her skin removals today coming back as not cancer!

7-27

Snapchat photos again!

Baylor is now giving fortune telling sessions, meet you in the back yard for yours.

While we waited for you to arrive for your fortune, we enjoyed some sparklers.  He loves to make more fire with his fire and is always burning something with his sparklers.

But his a good kid with them and does enjoy swinging them around as well.

He burned through a corn cob and was very pleased with himself.   And I am very pleased with the new camera on the phone.  It worked well in the low light and I could change settings like on my camera to get longer shots!

7-26

Gloria bought Baylor some new sandals and they happened to match swimming trunks and shirt from last year. He loved his outfit and was the talk of the morning at COF.

Gloria wanted to go to Texas Roadhouse for dinner.  And Baylor wanted to sit with her.

When I left Eddy this morning I was not sure she would be up and walking when I got home.  Thankfully she was.  She gets stiff and is wobbly half the time but she keeps on going on.  She is my daughter in a dog suit and I don't like to think about life without her.

7-29

HR was in the office Thursday to discuss a theft that happened at a co-workers desk (which I can see right into but did not see it happen) He said one thing the office has started doing to build some office bonds and to give people a place to get away from their computers is to put puzzles out for anyone to work on. One was 24 pieces, 200 and 500 pieces.  We finished all three of them yesterday and I brought in one I had it my closet.  Game on office!

I built a little bird bath and I don't see any birds taking a bath it it.  It may be too low to the ground but the black eyed Susans like it apparently.

Here comes Heidi's Lips, by way of a Snapchat filter of course.  I never wear lip color because I don't like how it looks, even a color that is the color of my lips!

Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot

I convinced Mom and Dad to come over to go swimming and hang out with us for a bit.  I had chicken and pork tenderloin out (in case Tara came through on Sunday but they came through on Friday instead) and planned to make salad as well so I could have the tomato and basil dressing. I knew I had one cucumber in the volunteer plants but when I went out there I found six large cucumbers!  And basil trees!

Baylor went swimming with his grandparents.  Definitely a sight that makes my heart happy.

Even their dog went for a quick dip in the pool to cool off.  I worked on pool maintenance and making dinner of Shawarma and Greek chicken and pork and salad including lots of cucumbers!  I love Sundays with family!

Family Reunion 2016

Just about every morning this week I made cookies or some other baked item for the reunion on Saturday.  The cookies made early in the week went into the freezer so they were still fresh.  I made mint chocolate chip, chocolate sprinkle (which after I made them I remembered I made them last year as well) and root beer float cookies for the cookie walk.  I picked up plates at the Dollar Store as usual. I like that they are sturdy and you get a free plate with your cookies!

It is hard to see from this photo but traffic going north was backed up for about a mile, because of a trooper in his car hearding a flock of geese walking down 83!

We were there early for set up and poor Baylor was left to his own devices to entertain himself.  I pulled out the bubbles and set up the bubble machine because that is always fun.

Especially eating them apparently.

The merry go round is still fun as well.  He wanted to go fast but only sitting in the center where it felt safe.  He did fly off it once when I was pushing but thankfully did not break his arm.

The bubbles were a hit especially with Zoe and Aunt Betty. She is pretty spry for 94 or 95!  She was squealing whee the entire time.  The youngest and the oldest ladies had a good time making bubbles together.

Baylor called me over to the merry go round to see this large beetle who was catching a ride.  He was amazing and I have never seen one before.  A friend commented on a photo of it and said it was a click beetle.  If you touch them they will snap their bodies and click.  I watched it online and it would have been fun to try with him.  But he flew off all by himself in his own time.

Instead of the peanut toss, Lynda went with a candy toss which was a big hit.

We won't need candy for Halloween this year!!

Then we played Drunken Waiter:  spin yourself around at least 12 times, faster is better, take the tray of cups with water and get them to the table, hopefully do not fall down.  It was hit or miss whether the waiter got dizzy enough or not but the kids did like it after they saw what was going on.

It was a nice but hot day and a dip in the pool when we got home was required.

Especially since Baylor won a pool volleyball!
