May Catch Up

Roxie not only loves socks, she also loves a red Nerf football.  She kills the squeaker right away but still loves to carry around the dead football.  The store that sells them is discontinuing them so I bought her a few to have on hand.

A train, what a surprise.  I have to cross the tracks to get most places and it is still funny how often I get stopped by them.

We took the boys to see the last Avengers movie.  We all enjoyed it but I think I am the only one who shed tears.  I always cry at movies, even superhero ones!

Guess what Roxie has?

Kartikey was over on the weekend and we made tostadas for lunch.  They are easy to make for meat eaters and vegetarians a like.

She took socks off the clean laundry pile right in front of Baylor.  But he was watching the tablet so he never noticed.

Baylor got a double cuddle from Grimm and Roxie.

Relaxing and eating a frozen icee.

I was lucky to be able to be a chaparone for the class field trip.  Originally I was bumped because she had too many volunteers but one mom had to back out and I was able to go.  We went to Landis Valley in Lancaster County and I love that place.  I rarely go as a tourist to the farm but go for events held there like the Herb Faire.

Baylor and Curtis riding the bus together to the farm.

We broke up into smaller groups of kids and each parent took their group around to see as much as we could.  We really needed another hour there at least because we looked and had to move on. My group never got a ride on the horse drawn wagon because it was either full or we had to be somewhere when we were near it.  But petting the horses in the pen was fun.

Each class had a set time to go to the old school house where we experienced school in the 1892 with Miss Coleman. The adults had to sit in the back of the room and were the eighth graders.  We got to help the little kids when they were stuck on one of the problems we had to solve.

We had chalk for our slates.

And Bob apparently sat on the girl's side, or his girlfriend did.

We had spelling lessons, in cursive, and a math lesson.

The class, divided into groups, had to memorize a poem, divided into sections.  We pulled it off but it was a bit wonky as we are not used to memorizing our work.

Baylor used to go to the Herb Faire with me and I have photos of him on these stone grinding wheels when he was younger.

These two always find each other and I am so glad they found each other five years ago.  They are such good friends.

Group photo at the tinsmith shop.

On the way back, he sat with me.  It was a good day with the kids and with my favorite fourth grader.

Roxie has a sock

Selfie of Mom and Gracie.  You cannot see Mom's hair but they have matching hair color.  She is Moms's dog already.  She tolerates Dad and it attached to Mom.  It has been since our first dog Patches that Mom has been the most favorite person.

Getting my Grimm love, whether I want it or not.

The sock hunter strikes again

I am slowly making progress in my shoulder surgery.  My shoulder blade pops up when I raise my arm but I can finally get it over my head.

The sweet sleeping Doodles.  He has really settled down a lot.  He is not a morning dog like Roxie and can be found sleeping in most mornings.

I went to the school open house and got to see Baylor's state report on Vermont.  He was excited to learn about his Uncle's favorite state.

We loved having Mrs. Failla again as his teacher.  Baylor really thrived this year and we are sad for the year to end.  He finally discovered reading is fun and I finally found a few book series that sparked his interest and desire to read for fun.

Showing me her belly for some good lovin's.

Leslie had the Aunt's Meeting this month and we took Kartikey with us.  Leslie has a good backyard for kids and the boys had fun together.

Just the boys, chilling at the outside table.

And playing on the rope swing.

And on the way home, they both fell asleep.   They tend to stay up really late and since we had to leave for Dallastown, they were not able to sleep in very late.

It is a train, on our way home.

We made a visit to Meme and Pap's house for Mother's Day.  She made tacos, because it is something she could make that Kartikey can also eat.  She did a good job getting it all together.  Tacos are not something Norman would normally eat so she does not make them.  We took almost all the leftovers home.

The boys managed to entertain themselves while it rained.  They were both looking forward to riding the four-wheeler but due to the rain, they had to wait it out.

Finally it stopped raining and the boys were off.  Norman drove them around the first lap or two.

And then Baylor took over.  He did really well, making sure the did not slip on the wet ground.

No socks are safe with Roxie around.

A train, on the way to work.  Who would guess!!

Grimm has been doing well on his new food.  His bladder seems to be happy again and he may have lost a bit of weight as well.  I don't want to put him through all the stress of going in the crate to go have him weighed.

Another beautiful evening in Lisburn

I picked a few asparagus and enjoyed eating them!!

The Spring Fair is a main fundraiser for the schools and we love going.  Baylor won an unlimited bounce house band for selling chocolates.  Well, Gloria and I did the selling mostly.  But he got to go on the bounce items as much as he wanted.  This was a race and of course the most fun.

We got the photo in the tree, which we have done since Kindergarten.  It may be the last year because the new school construction will be starting later this year and I am not sure what the fate of the trees will be.

This one was fun as well because it was a competition.  I had to work at the class booth while the boys were on this one so I am not sure who won.  But they had fun of course.

Kartikey, Baylor, and Elizabeth. She lives in Kartikey's neighborhood and is in Baylor's class.  She is a girl who gets along with the boys and they all have fun.

On Friday nights he stays up late and crashes somewhere in the house.  I found him on the love seat in the morning.  While he looks pretty cute, he is in a bad place if he wants to sleep in.

The grass needs mowed!! It is up to Roxie's belly.

We had Sunday Supper at Heather's house and she made Hog Maw. I bought potato filling to go with it.

Baylor played his sax for everyone out of the deck.  I love that he does not mind playing in front of anyone or anywhere.  I do hope he plays in the band later in his school life.  He would be good at marching band!

Hubbard received his birthday present and we hope he loves it as much as Baylor loved his mower.  I cannot believe he is two already!!

A morning train

She looks and she scores

The Spring Concert finally arrived and we took Baylor out to dinner before the concert.

Then we met at Kartikey's for a bit so we did not have to go home before the concert.

The orchestra went first so we got to hear Kartikey play.  He was so serious and did well as did the rest of the orchestra.

There were only three saxophones, the whole band is about a third of the size of the orchestra anyway.  At one point Baylor told us he was the only one playing.  The fifth grader's reed broke and the other player lost her place.  We never noticed as he carried them through.

Jake turned three and would not face me for a nice photo.  He was such a snot!  But he looks so nice in profile.  He is such a handsome dog.  I love him!!!

And I love my sock hunter also.

The neighbor's adopted two little dogs who match our dogs in color.  Meet Sasha and Bailey.  They are sweet girls so far and I am so happy the neighbors found them.

I worked long and hard on weeding the worst of the flower beds.  It was a lot of work, especially the Sticky Willey weed.  It is a long week that is sticky and yucky.  Last year I got it late, after it went to seed, and ended up covered in seed balls.  On everything I was wearing.  Think burdock, only smaller.

Gloria and Baylor helped haul it to the creek bank, saving me a ton of trips with the wheelbarrow.

Look who is driving?!

The next morning I woke up covered in a rash from Sticky Willey.  It itched a lot!!

I finally got the pool filter set up and the pool running.

Not too clear yet but getting there.   Baylor only cares that it is water, in a pool, and fun for him.  It was too cold for me to get in.

Ice cream time out by the fire pit.  Just me and my dog of course.

We have a toad problem and I am not sure why they want to be in my back yard.  It is dangerous with our dogs out there but every year we have them.  I managed to catch three of them and put them in the front of the house.  Maybe they will be happy there as well.  At least the dogs will not be able to get to them out there.

Sometimes I think Grimm enjoys playing with Roxie. They bat each other back and forth.  Other times, I know Grimm hates it and runs off.  It is crap shoot what his mood will be though.

Facebook memory from 2011.

Baylor spent the day with Kartikey and they had a good time playing in the pool.  And I had a quiet afternoon at home.  The upside to play dates!!

She sniffs, she scores.

The neighbor shared her strawberries with us again this year. She also shared her mom's shortbread and sauce for shortcake recipe with me as well.  I am looking forward to trying them both.
