And back to the dog park in the evenings. Jake and Bean playing tug.
Saturday I went to a baby shower while Baylor stayed with Ryder at his house. I worked with Zakiya many years ago and I am so excited she is having a little girl this October. And I was super excited to go to her shower and finally meet her family and husband! I did not know anyone there other than Zakiya but a very nice woman who worked with Zakiya's mom at the school and knew just about everyone took me under her wing and we had a nice time talking and her telling me all about everyone!
She has a step-daughter who is super excited to become a big sister!
When I got home from Easton I picked up both boys and Ryder stayed the night. We wanted to go roller skating in the afternoon but apparently the rink is closed on Sundays in the summer (but the website does not say that) so we stopped for ice cream on our way home.
Of course they went with me to the dog park and had fun with the maple seeds.
Since the fair is this week , the rides started to roll in on Sunday afternoon.
The weather has been very rainy and no one was at the dog park so Jake and I walked the entire perimeter of the park. He is tough to keep up with but my knees held out.
And he got to go for a swim to clean his muddy undercarriage! Just like all young boys, he loves to run in the muddy puddles.
Chase with Ziggy and Archer.
Playing with Abby
In the morning before work Jake pushed the gate open, it was not fully latched, and headed for the creek. Baylor, in his socks, and my in my bare feet ran off after him. Thankfully we had the escape leash hanging out on the fence so he was easier to bring home this time.
The garden in its summer glory and my caged beast at the back.
So I was draining some water off the aquarium and got distracted for quite some time and nearly drained it all. Oops!
Tired dog means I get a break from Crazy Jake!!
The fair starts on Wednesday nights and it is always fun to see the lights come on!
Jake was not too sure what was going on but did well with all the commotion.
I think Jake is going through a growth spurt and just does not do well at night. I am up many times a night with him and he is wearing me out. But if he has a good bone, he will chew for hours and only wake me up once before he is ready to finally sleep, around 2:30 usually! He as many options to choose from!
Jake does not really chew on other toys unless they are stuffed and can be destroyed. But this retriever toy has become his favorite chew toy, but not at night because he can get pieces off of it.
Thursday was our last night of class and he did really well. Now if we will work on the training at home. It has been a struggle so far, I just don't have the free time or support to work on him like I need to.
Friday evening Kartikey and his mom came over to go to the fair with us. Of course they obsessed over some toy they will not remember tomorrow but in the moment is was certainly fun.
The rides were fun, especially together with your bestie.
We were there for the tractor parade which always brings back many memories of me bolting out of the house with Baylor when I heard the motors starting up.
The boys had an ice cream because that is perfect fair food on a hot evening.
Selfie with my friend!
I don't know how get so much food on his face but he was loving his look!
And loving his cat Grimm, whom we have not forgotten in the wake of Jake.
Saturday was raining, shocking really. And it was raining so fast that the water was just running over the edge of the pool. It has been up at the tippy top of the edge all summer. Jake loves being in the rain but had enough.
This was just in an hour or so in the afternoon. Thankfully the sun came out in time for the fair to open for the evening.
There were four cardinals in the willow tree after the rain!!
Off to the dog park after the rain. It was really pretty!
But since no one was there, I knew that, we just went for a walk. The creek was raging high!
The rocks barely showing on the left are usually a good three feet above the water.
With the work they did at the park, the entryway stayed mostly clean of mud!
Zayden and his mom joined us for the fair on Saturday. The rides were fun again for Baylor!
And we ran into Mr Alex who will be starting college this summer and will not be a fixture in the elementary school like he has been the last four years.
Baylor tried the shooting range this year. He did pretty good staying on the paper for never shooting a gun like that before.
He did not do very good at the ball throwing game but was not too discouraged.
Landon was there too and he did the dart throwing game.
And they all fished to win a blow up sword. Because, why not? It is a fair and one must collect all kinds of crap at the fair.
Jake said Hello to the hay riders.
Sunday morning I picked the basil that had gone wild over the last few weeks.
Before
After.
In the afternoon at the dog park there was a sweet eight month old girl there that looked like a mini Jake. Her name was Bell and she was with her grandpa, she is from DE and Daddy was away for the weekend. Grandpa was on granddogger duty and took photos of Jake to send to his son.
Jake is in the back playing with Dipper.
She really did have very similar markings to Jake. From a distance I could only tell them apart by the color of their collars.
