The Last Day of April 2014

I have decided to start making our bread.  I am not a bread eater really but I don't like all the chemicals they put in bread and it is not really hard to make.  I found a simple recipe online and made up the dough after work.  I put the dough in the bread pans and then in the fridge to rise over night.  I baked the bread in the morning before work and it turned out wonderfully delicious. It rise in the cold refrigerator make for a denser loaf and we liked that.

We also had quite a bit of rain during the night.  My rain gauge is cracked and I need to buy a new one but it is still holding water for now.  April showers bring May flowers so I am happy for the rain.

Gloria wanted her hair colored when I got home from work and Baylor wanted me to play with him.  Our compromise was he helped me with Mom's hair and when we were done I would play with him.  He was my color assistant and squeezed the color onto her hair while I combed it in.

My plan worked beautifully and in the end everyone got what they needed out of the evening; Mom had pretty hair and Baylor got to play, eventually.

High Flying Monkey and A Walk to the Creek

Sunday was beautiful day to be outside and while I have hours of weeding and yard work, today was playing with Baylor and silly things we do together when we can.  He wanted to sit out in the grass behind our house with his monkey we bought years ago at Target in the dollar bins.  He takes a beating and has even gone swimming and he still loves Baylor.

Baylor made him a nice bed in his orange flip flop and gave him dandelions to make him happy.  Little did monkey know what was soon to be his fate.

For now, it was just love and flowers in the Spring sun.

But soon, it was time to fly.

And Baylor loves to show me hoe fast he can run so off he would race away as fast as his barefeet could take him.

And race back faster than Flash Gordon. Or so he said.

And then it was a tumble in the grass like Jack rolling down a hill.

Eddy was in the yard and barking so we brought her out to us for some family time.

Monkey was allowed to rest after his flying episode.

Still a happy little monkey happy to be with his little boy.

And this little boy happy to be out with his dog as well.

Baylor has been asking to go to the creek for a few weeks and we headed out there after lunch.  He was happy to pull the wagon to show me how strong he is now.

The water was COLD and felt like freshly melted snow flakes.

But that hardly stops Baylor from wading into water at any time.

Come on Mommy, it is not too bad.  Yeah, right kid, I don't believe that at all!

The creek was really beautiful, clear, and running fairly fast.

No really Mommy, you need to come out here.  And of course I did.  But the camera stayed on shore.

We made a little creek to learn how the water will follow the easy path.  The creek went from the main creek to a brackish puddle that houses tiny fish, weird walking stick covered bugs, crawfish and other creepy crawlies.

Baylor decided to build a little stone house on the rock beds.

In the canal, he crawled up the tree root covered bank.  When did he get to be so big and strong?

And he pulled the wagon home, at least most of the way, we did have a pile of rocks in it now.

On the way out I saw this beautiful yellow wild flower. I am not sure what it is but it is really quite gorgeous.

It really was a day of memories and good times with my son.  I am thankful we have these days together.  It is good to be a mom!!
