4 Year Photos

We took Baylor in for his four year photos today and he was Mr I Will Do Whatever You Ask And Smile The Whole Time.  Which is a good way to be at the photo place.  I cannot believe how good they turned out and boy is it hard to choose what to print out.  We always buy the CD so I have them whether they are printed or not.

Lori wanted him to wear his suit, to get some wear out of it.  I am really glad she chose it.

Then we changed him into his red shirt.  He has worn red for every photo session since he was three months old.

I love this sleigh photo!  Love it!

He wanted to stand with the sleigh so she found this one.

Ain't it the truth!

We have a version of this shot for every time we have had his photos done: three, six, and nine months, one, two, three and four years old.  They are framed in 8 x 10 going down the stairs.

Then he wore some blue.  This is my second favorite.  I just love his pose!

The photos come in on December 1st, the same day as my Gingerbread party.  It will be so hard to not run over and get them!

Random

Just some random photos of cake baking and playing outside and just being his cute self.

I have used the same recipe for white cake for all his birthday cakes.  I really like it and this year it was great for coloring like the rainbow.

A frosting recipe that calls for three cups of butter.  You know it was good!

But first you have to make the Italian meringue.  I am so glad we have the KitchenAid.

The cakes were all kind of uneven but by stacking the low sides on the high sides it evened out for the most part.

Meme had cateract surgery a few weeks ago an is sporting her shades.

Baylor and I did some raking, which I really feel is quite unnecessary.  Eventually they blow away anyway.  But Baylor was having fun so we piled them into the compost piles.

We pulled out all the dead stems and stalks from the garden and did some weeding.  I pruned half the raspberry canes before Mandy came over for a chat.  Then it was time to go inside for bit.

Fall

I am behind in my fall photos.  Last week I think I just needed a rest after all the October festivites and never got around to it.

Some time last week.

Saturday morning.  We had a hard frost and it was very crisp even at 8 am.

Birthday Party

Today was our party for Baylor's birthday.  Since we had a big Halloween party a few weeks ago, we opted for a small celebration at the house with the grandparents and cousins. Meme and Pap spent the night and when Baylor was begging to open some gifts, they were able to produce two small gifts to tide him over.  He did open a few on his birthday, a Spiderman bed set, spidy jammies and underpants.  Meme gave him a little wrist watch and small flashlight.

It was enough to get him through the rest of the day until gift time.

Of course I was trying to get photos of him holding still but that is pretty hard when you are four.

After breakfast we had to play outside for while.  It was a gorgeous day and a good time was had running all around the yard.

And farming.  We worked on the gardens yesterday also so I am sure he had to continue his work today.

Grandma and Buddy brought balloons along with his gifts.

Before lunch we put on a Shrek movie so he would settle down a bit.  See the little dog by Buddy?  That is Newton, the newest member of the family.  They found him through a local rescue group and have only had him for a week today.  Eddy did really well having him in the house and he was pretty over whelmed with everything.

We let Baylor eat in the living room with Buddy.  Sometimes I really just don't want to argue about things and it is fun watching TV while you eat.

Heather and the kids arrived and had some lunch.  I made ice cream but forgot to put the dasher in the container. It was running for about 20 minutes when I checked on it and wondered why it was not ice cream yet.  I had a nice thick layer of frozen custard on the edge of the freezer and liquid in the middle.  I scraped it off the sides, put in the dasher, and in minutes we had ice cream.  Which was good because when I brought the cake out to warm up, Baylor was all about getting to the candle blowing.  We made the cake together yesterday and he requested a rainbow cake.  I of course was willing to oblige.

We did four rounds of candles and singing and blowing.  He loved it.

And was willing to share the duties with Connor.

The cake turned out great.

Steph came over for some cake and share in the celebration.  The kids were at parties themselves so it was just her.  Baylor was ready to tear into his gifts. He was primarily interested in the act of opening and the gifts that really caught his attention were the Playmobil pirate sets from Heather.

Connor modeled his new hat from Meme.  Baylor said he was too busy to try it on right now.

While Baylor was opening gifts, Brigid was trying on Baylor's spiderman underpants.  She did have some help but being a girl, she loves trying on clothes no matter what it is.

Pap found a RC digger and both boys loved it.

Mom and Dad requested a photo of them and the dog.  Oddly, they never asked for a photo of them with Baylor.

Around three Baylor was ready for some more soup with his goldfish crackers from Grandma.  He is a great gift receiver because he loves a small carton of goldfish as much as he loves a digger.  He was giving me his best four fingers. Normally he tries to hold down his pinky instead of his thumb so he is getting the hang of it.

Meme and Pap left first because they have a longer drive.  I am glad they were able to spend the night because Meme has not been able to stay as much this year as she did in the past due to the many surgeries she has had since last November.  But she is doing really well!

Baylor played outside some more and was showing off his scooter skills.  While we were out there the girls, Natalie and Vanessa, came over with hand made cards and a gift.  He was excited to show then his room and his new tent we bought him.  They girls had some cake and went back to play until Vanessa came out holding her head.  Apparently Baylor threw something at her head, a hard plastic lion.  We did the whole talk about good choices, playing nicely with our friends etc.  The girls headed home with a cuddle and thank you for everyone.  Buddy and Grandma headed out and it was just us.

Baylor needed some Mommy time so we cuddled on the couch and watched a Lobster Mobster episode of the Little Mermaid.  When it was over, I had to finish cleaning up the kitchen.  Lori pulled out his sleeping bag we got him and he crawled in. By 4:30, both the kids were asleep on the floor and Moms were each sprawled out on a couch.  It was a good birthday!
