And Now We Have Walls

They guys have been working a lot in the new rooms this week.  They had it studded out and then added the insulation. 

And then one day we had dry wall. 

The coat closet, the beginings of the Harry Potter door under the stairs and the landing on the stairway. 

I do like the light in the living room.  With three windows, it will be lovely in the mornings.

Bedroom window and closet.  They have been taping and mudding the end of the week and soon we will see paint on the walls!  We need to decide on the bathroom but we have the living room and bedroom picked out.  I love color on the walls.  I ordered the bedding for the bedroom too and it arrived this week.  It should look nice with the wall color we picked out.  

And off the lighting wire outside we had a pretty icicle.  It is still very cold this winter and yesterday Harrisburg set a record low temperature for January 30.  I don't remember what it was but it was single digit cold.  This weekend will be a near heat wave in the 40's! 

Our First Trip to Leesburg

Friday I left work early to pick up Baylor for our first trip to Leesburg to visit Tara, Julie, and Lucas.  We have been to their old treehouse home but this was our first visit to their new home. Saturday was Lucas' birthday party and we arrived a bit early so we could hang out.  We arrived early enough to go out to dinner at Tara's local awesome pizza shop.  It was worth the drive, though Baylor did not eat anything and fell asleep at the table.  Friday is all day at preschool and he rarely makes it past 7 PM on those days. Tara, sleeping Baylor, and I drove around the old part of town after dinner to see some some of the historic places, both to the town and in Tara's youth. It is an old town with a nice downtown that I am looking forward to seeing sometime during the day and on foot.  We went back to the house and all talked a bit and headed to bed. 

In the morning Baylor and I sent a good morning selfie to Mama who was working.  

We stayed in bed a bit playing his Leapster until we heard others stirring out in the hallway.  We had  a lovely breakfast and coffee together.  The boys did a good job playing together and watching a few shows in between.  Julie and I worked on some knitting while Tara cut fruit and cheese and decorating the cake for the party. While we were sitting in the kitchen two deer decided to hang out in their back yard.  They came and went and came back again.  

 Tara and I headed out to the Dollar Tree for balloons and Julie took the boys outside.  After that it was crunch time to get ready for the party.  I blew up the balloon pack because everyone loves balloons.  

Especially Baylor  

The party was robot themed and Tara had even dressed a few book cases as robots. 

And the china hutch and a few other spots.  It was very cute!

She planned a small party with just a few kids and it was a nice amount to have.  The twins Ryan and James were there and while I am sure they did not remember me, I think we made friends with each other pretty quickly.  They were fun boys and all the little people had a good time.  Thea, her baby sister Annika, and her mom were also there. Last year Baylor and Thea had a lot of fun at the yogurt shop party. This year us Mom's of older children took turns getting some baby loving with Annika.  

Tara had some crafts and games set up for the kids.  Baylor as usual was slow to join the crafts but he was finally drawn to the table for snacks and robot crafting fun.  

She made a tape the mouth on the robot game.  They used a knitted scarf to cover their eyes and while every child said they could not see, each piece of tape was perfectly placed!  It must be part of the childhood conspiracy that we as adults have forgotten. 

Tara spent most of the time I was knitting in the morning Tara was sticking blue and red candies to the yummy cake.  She made the marzipan robot topper for the cake and he looked great!  

Happy Birthday was sung and the candle blown out. 

After cake it was back to playing for the kids talking and noshing for the moms.  We all left around 6 and for us it was a two hour drive home.  Baylor was asleep within twenty minutes so it was a quiet two hours.  I cannot wait until our next visit and I know it will be before his next birthday!

Construction Update

Construction has been slow because of the holidays, inspector vacations, and the cold weather.  But it would happen in spurts. The last week of December Friday they put in the windows and door. Saturday they put on the roof and Monday we had siding. 

See the window cut out where they did not finish the wall?  Lori was trying to keep the window and I wanted it out because I did not want any crazy wall things going on to save it.  I won that battle but I had to have Lori call Bob to confirm it.  

The concrete was finally poured and hardened overnight. 

The the walls started going up.  

And the kitchen window came out on my birthday before we left for Mom's. 

I will miss the light this window brought to my kitchen.
