All Hallow's Eve

I was up early, of course, it is a weekend and Eddy likes to be up with Gloria at 4:00 and get me up soon after.  I lit my candles on my little alter.  

And a few hours later. 

Baylor and I went out shopping and of course there was a train. About 100 cars, I may have missed some trying to get out my phone.  

First Grade Hallowe'en Party and Parade

I dumped Baylor's candy haul from last night into a colander.  I cannot believe how much candy he got!! 

In the afternoon I headed to the grade school to help out with the costume parade and following party.  All the teachers were Minions and the principal was Gru but I did not get their photo.  It was my first time meeting Mrs. Anderson and she told me she really enjoyed having Baylor in class.  Blushing Mom here!  Actually when I walked in the room Baylor, Landon, and Marcel all gave me hugs and then a few random kids gave me hugs as well.  She said I am very popular with the kids (three of them know me) and I said my smarmy, I know.  I have to remember not everyone knows my humor style right off the bat.  

We waited in the hall for our turn to head out and while I was out there I saw Zayden and Carson.

And his classmate who asked my why I was not taking a picture of her, so I did.

The parade looped around the playground a few times so the parents there could see their children.  

I ran over to see Kartikey and sent him mom a photo as it did not appear she was able to make it. 

After the parade laps we headed in and the kids changed out of their costumes.  Three boys came back who do not celebrate Hallowe'en so they could join us for treats and games.  One Mom, who was apparently going into labor early earlier in the day, made Frankenstein cups with clear cups, green grapes and strategically placed marshmallows.  I handed out pretzels while they passed out juice.  I brought two games: Witch Pitch and the Candy Corn Toss.  And prizes for both.  We also had Pumpkin Bowling.  They split the kids into three groups and we rotated them so they each got two turns.  

Baylor wore his jack o'lantern shirt for the day.  Very festive.  

Landon is such a sweet kid.  Since he knows me and is pretty comfortable with me, several kids asked him if I was his mom.  I told his dad about it in case he said anything.  The party was fun, the kids were great and I had a good time.  But I am a goofball adult and love the kids!  

When we got home the sun was great and the leaves were dry.  

Baylor raked small piles while I ran inside to take care of Eddy.  I grabbed the big leaf rake and got busy raking a huge pile by his rope swing.  

I got it on video on my phone but I cannot put on the blog. But he swung around and landed in the leaves.  And then flopped around in the pile.  It was awesome to see him have so much fun. 

I asked him take some photos in the leaves.  

And when he was done he made a well in the center to play in,  We had a lot of fun today!!

We had a long day of rain ending in evening thunderstorms.  In the morning the Hunter Moon was out but the leaves are about 80% on the ground.  

Bare branches with lots of sky showing through!  

But once they dry up, look out leaf piles, Baylor is coming to get you. 

Trick Or Treat

It was a beautiful morning with the moon and the bare trees.  

Since we were not going home first before going to Landon's, I took Baylor to dinner at a pizza shop.  Apparently everyone orders pizza on trick or treat night and it was a 45 minute wait!  Thankfully they brought the fries out first.  I let him have the epic fry! 

So my township is a bit odd and likes to have trick or treat the Thursday before Hallowe'en, which kind of ruins Hallowe'en day for me.  Landon had asked us if we could to with him and I said sure.  I had to remember to tell the neighbors we would not be going with them this year and while I am sure they were a bit sad, Baylor has his friends now too so I don't feel like I need to make him go with my friends, or the neighbors, in this case.  

I would say about a third of the neighborhood was 'Open for Hallowe'en Business' with decorations and lights on.  Some people seemed to be playing a trick with their porch light on and no-one home.  They were not nice in my book.  One house had a fog machine.  Landon is pretty reserved by himself but with Baylor there were fairly brave unless a dog appeared.  Baylor hates being licked and Landon flat out does not like dogs. 

It was a beautiful sunset!! 

Sometimes he wore his mask, which was hard to see out of and sometimes his hat, which made his head hot and sweaty.

And sometimes he was all natural. 

After an hour of walking around we headed to the fire truck for pizza and more candy.  By this time Baylor's pumpkin was overflowing and I was carrying between houses anyway.

Merida came with us, the daughter of Landon's dad's friend.  I think his friend was either not very personable or just annoyed that I was trying to talk to them.  It is not like we were walking around with our kids for the last hour, I am not sure what I was thinking trying to be friendly. Oh well.  After pizza, Baylor said he was done so we headed to the car and left.  Landon and Merida apparently keep on treating on.  Baylor gave three Reeses to Mr Alex, someone at the school who stands by them during dismissal.  Baylor said Mr Alex told him if he was in his class, he would be the star student for the day.  I don't know who Mr Alex is but it made me happy Baylor wanted to share with him.  

When we got home, he asked me to take a candy selfie.  How could I resist.
