July Catch Up

Roxie likes her ball but she does not like water.  She was not sure what to do when her ball get too close to the sprinkler.  She ended up leaving it there!

I picked one of the hottest days so far this summer to work on the weedy grass taking over this side of the garden.  It is a horrible grass that can regrow from the tiniest remaining root.  It is a losing battle but I don't know what else to do to get rid of it.  So I pull it out as best I can and wait for the re-grow to put it out again.

Pork tastes better over charcoal and we love Greek style pork!!

And I love tzatziki on everything on my plate!!

Crazy dogs who want to take over my bed!

Still working on cleaning up the weed litter leftover from the weekend weeding.  It is just so hot!!

Jake appreciated the mist while playing outside.  He is not afraid of the water at all.

This little Miss apparently likes to float!! She was very calm while on the starfish floating around.  She is not a good swimmer, her butt has rocks in it or something.  She just starts to sink right away and panics.

When they get to playing, they sound and act like they are out for blood.  Thankfully neither has ever hurt the other and in the end they have always go back to being friends.

She is such a pretty girl!  So glad we have her!!

They sure look thrilled with their recent photo shoot.  As long as their are treats in the end I don't think they mind too much.

Gloria and Baylor stayed home on the 4th while I ran around York County with the Hazel family. We went blueberry picking first.  I have not gone the Blueberry Hill in years!!  The berries were ripe, big, and delicious!  So easy to pick, I was at one bush and picked almost the whole bucket and shared with the kids.

We went the the Shoe House for Ice Cream. I have driven past this since I was 14 and never stopped.  I would like to go back and have a tour next time but the black raspberry ice cream sandwich was delicious and worth the stop.

Jam was the first thing that came to mind of what to do with all the blueberries.  I know my friends will enjoy a jar! Because I don't eat jam because I don't eat toast!

Messy and purple everywhere but delicious

Yup, still have not cleaned up the rest of the weeds.  I need to because the grass is dying under all the dead stuff!

I made sour cream blueberry pies with more of the blueberries. It is such a good pie, I double the pecan topping because that is my favorite part of it.

And the rest of them were eaten!

Ryder and Baylor enjoyed some backyard fireworks.  I had Roxie with me to see how she would react to them.  She was not a fan and went inside.

We do not have anything really big but the boys loved the smoke bombs.

Sunny afternoon swim with Jake the lifeguard on duty.

It is nice having Gloria home on the weekends.  I don't have to take Baylor everywhere with me and I can take the dogs out to places like Barkby for lure chasing and free swim in their pond.  The lure chasing was first and I was happily surprised both dogs seemed to really enjoy themselves chasing the bag around the course.

Especially my little short legged runner who had trouble with the tight turn at the bottom of the course.  She made a wide turn and had to catch up to the lure.  They slowed it down for her when needed.  She was so cute.  So was Jake, he did all three laps as well.

Sam on the other hand ran down the first leg of the course and decided he was more interested in a good poop!

After everyone did the lure chasing it was time for free swim.  Jake was in water heaven.  No leash, lots of water, dogs and toys.

He would not jump off the dock.  I would throw the toy into the water and he ran off the dock and onto the bank to go get it.

But other dogs with diving training had a great time jumping off the dock.

Joanne and Sam, our good friends!

So Roxie was initially excited to go into the water and promptly sank, head under and everything.  Then she was done with water and would not even wade out to get the ball right in front of her.  I borrowed one of their vests hoping she would try again but she did not.  And since I could not get into the water with her, I just let her run around all she wanted with the vest on just in case.

She was fine when I was sitting on the bank watching over Jake.  Just my happy little girl

Jake was just so happy to be in the water, he just swam and swam and swam!

And Roxie ran around being the sweet girl she is.

We received a Mummy squeak toy in a BarkBox and Roxie loves it.  She squeaks and squeaks and squeaks!

Someone is not very helpful when getting ready in the morning.  More like a cute little pest than a helper.

Baylor went on a short vacation with Ryder's family out to Pittsburgh and Heather sent me photos of their trip.  They had a good time from what Baylor told me and the pictures told the same story.

Even when their car died and they had to ride the tow truck back to get another car!

Hello Jakie Doodles!

And Roxie Rue

They went to two water/amusement parks.  Lucky boys!

Clubhouse photos of my happy pups.

And the coma afterwards

I ordered Roxie her own swimming vest in her size.  Hopefully we can build up her water confidence since she will not sink now.

Her foster sister lives in Lancaster County and we have been trying to get together for many weeks now.  The last delay was because of her cooties and not waiting Elly to get them as well.   Roxie was a bit of a bi$*& at first and I don't think they really remembered each other.  Which was a bit sad because they spent more of their lives together than apart.  They finally made friends enough to play and run around Elly's yard.

We both sent pictures to Kate of the dogs together.  She was sad they did not remember each other!

This living room is also the nap room apparently.

We had a fire alarm go off at work due to the smell of smoke in the front office.  We were told we could head home and finish our day there and while I was heading out I saw five trucks headed to the building.  Thankfully it was only wires burning in one of the AC units and no real damage was done.

I was sitting on the couch and noticed how gross Jake's look out window is.

And where Roxie chewed the curtain.   I washed all the windows and ordered new curtains the next day!

Good Morning!

Pool buddies

Jake is on duty but not life guard. He is on bunny watch.  They are all over the yard, mostly outside the fence, and he is on duty just waiting and waiting.

We had tacos and sweet corn for lunch.  Yummy!

Now that Dad is not always holding a dog he can get to know my dogs.  Sadly Chief had a seizure that he was not coming out of and they had decided to help him go.  It was so sad for them but they gave him a good life and took great care of him.  Dad is not used to 75 lbs of love trying to kiss him but he handled it well.

Jake can see better out of his window now that it is clean.  Better for rabbit hunting.

More rabbit hunting.

Mandy took me to my first roller derby and it was a lot of fun.  I was not sure I would enjoy it but I did.

Very comforting to read since almost all the seating is trackside.

Mandy walked me through the rules of the game and by the end I could figure out what was going on myself.

It looks like a painting of the clouds!

Guess what, we had a lot of rain this summer!  A lot!

My orchid at work put out a bloom stem.  I cannot wait for it to bloom again. I was happy to be able to keep it alive at a minimum and now this is the second year it has bloomed.

Another painterly sky

More rain!

On rabbit watch. He will sit out here forever just waiting for the bunny to come back.

There was something good going on the TV.  They both had to watch.

More rain.

Jake did not care if it was raining. He was on either rabbit or toad watch back here.

More rain.

We made a rare visit to the dog park and this night there were six black and white dogs there!  It was hard finding my two and usually that is quiet easy.

Taco Tuesday is the only night of the week we know what we are having and it is a favorite for everyone.

Checking out the full moon.

Years ago I dug up some wine berry canes and planted them on the outside of the garden. I love wine berries but I discovered I do not love their thorns.  At all! Their thorns are deadly and dense on the canes.  So I dug them all out so i could take back this corner of the yard.  It was dangerous to mow and walk past.

I had help in the yard today and Baylor did most of the push mowing while I pulled out wine berry canes.  It was a great help!

Baylor and I also built a fire pit together.  It came together quickly though getting the pieces into the yard was heavy work!

We had a fire in it the first night.  I was afraid the dogs would jump in it but they saved that for the next day.

Chief Fireman Baylor putting out the fire with a water gun.

It happened, Jake got the bunny.
