Friday morning I packed the van with my Thirty-One bag collection and Baylor and headed to the beach for a few days. We took the dogs to the clubhouse earlier in the morning so they would have a nice week away as well. Gloria is not as good a dog mom as I am so it was just easier for them to go to the clubhouse together.
And we are off!
And four hours later, we arrived. No issues on the road or driving. Just stiff from sitting so long! But always glad to arrive in Rehoboth!
We stayed at the Walls with my cousins and families again this year. It is good to be with them!! We unpacked, got settled in, and then it was time for supper. Lynda went with Baylor and I to Grotto for dinner and a walk on the beach. It was our only Grotto night and I had salad and we took the small pizza home. There must be something wrong with me because I love Grotto pizza!!
The first night after dinner we always go out to the beach to play in the water. My little fish just loves the ocean!
We had to stop at the arcade of course as well on our way back. He loves his video games.
And his ice cream. This boy always has room for ice cream and different flavors as well. Toasted coconut with sprinkles. I had chocolate cake batter and Lynda had vanilla with with a chocolate dip.
Saturday morning was a lovely morning on the porch with coffee and Lynda to talk to.
And Baylor, who does not sleep in when he can, joined us as well/
When the other kids were up and out, he played with the bubbles with them. I always bring large bottles of bubbles and the wands and bubble guns. They are a big hit!
We headed for the beach and I had my cart all packed with all the things we would need for a fun day in the sand. I had a new umbrella I bought last summer and when I put it up I found I was missing one of the poles so I had an umbrella for the little people in our group!
The water was early spring cold but that does not bother Baylor at all! I played with him quite a bit and he played with Paisley, Griffin, and Grace in the surf as well. We found many shells and gave the kids their own plastic jars to collect them in.
We were standing in the surf talking and Baylor yelled out there was a puffer fish in the water. He knows they are dangerous and I know they are dangerous but apparently no one else did. I started shouting there is a puffer fish, get out of the water and I think they go out because I was shouting and not because they felt they were in danger. It was slightly alive, barely moving its flippers but not able to control its movements. Amy and Chelsea goggled the puffer fish because I think they just thought I was loony.
After the puffer fish scare it was snack time. They kids were happy with the shade option they had.
Beach selfie with my new short beach hair cut, that I love!!
Baylor and Presley dug deep holes that they could stand up in and were into their waist (we filled them in before we left so no one broke a leg later).
I love my time with this kid. He is so much fun and just make me happy to be his mom.
The dolphins were moving up the beach but I could never snap a photo when they were taking a breath.
It was quite over cast in the afternoon and almost foggy. We kept up with the sunblock and neither of us got a sunburn.
We had a late lunch at our favorite place, Sammy's Kitchen. We sat next to this poster of billfish and learned about the many kinds of billfish in the ocean.
I do love the outdoor shower, the view is wonderful!!
We went to dinner together, all 22 of us and rode the trolley to Dewey Beach to eat at the Rusty Rudder. At the end of the meal Klaudia showed up as a surprise to her mom to spend the weekend with us.
It was a bit stormy looking over the bay but it was gorgeous as well!!
Sunday morning Baylor and I were sitting on the porch when a deer ran down our road!!! A deer, in Rehoboth!! We were glad we say it and hoped it stayed safe during its stay!
I love the swing back benches and the beach and someday I want to build one for my back yard!!
Boardwalk selfies with my guy. He is such a wonderful kid to spend time with. I am so blessed to be his Mommy!
He picked out shirt and his first iron on decal. I used to spend a lot of time in the t-shirt shops trying to pick the best decal for me shirt!!
Because the weather was not good for being on the beach so I promised Baylor a surprise. I took him into Escape Reality (Rehoboth Beach, DE).and he found his Nirvana. They had a 25 minute deal for $20.00 and I think he would have gladly drained the bank and spent the rest of vacation here. I could watch what he was doing on the monitor but it was just as fun watching him in real life moving around the floor.
He played Gorn first and it was yuck to watch!! But he loved it.
We picked up lunch on the way back and hung out in the room for a while. I went out to the Old Navy to buy Baylor some long pants, (it was cold) and to the liquor store to pick up some beer to bring back to Gloria. Baylor stayed at Walls with the other kids. We went to Dos Locos for dinner together. He does love his tacos!
We walked the boardwalk, played games in the arcade, walked on the beach and then headed back to sit on the porch and read our book for a while. It was a rainy, dreary day and not a great beach day but a great day to be with my little man and family.
He claimed he was not falling asleep on the loveseat but clearly he was wrong.
Monday morning found me out the porch with Leslie and Lynda. Another rainy morning and I am so glad I grabbed my green coat and a hoodie for Baylor. We needed it!!
Baylor spent another 25 minutes playing games. It is not a thing I would really want him to do at the beach but there was not too much else to do in town. It was cold and raining!

The ocean was as beautiful as usual.
Crazy wind in my super short hair kind of day.
And no amount of cold can stop him from enjoying ice cream.
We went to supper with everyone that was left, which was not many, at Arena's Restaurant. We asked what the ring on a string with a hook on the wall was for and the bartender said it was a game. And Baylor was 'hooked". He played off and on through supper and hooked it 24 times. Lynda gave it a try and hooked it her first try and was done.
He tried a chili dog and liked it well enough to eat most of it.
We walked the boardwalk and enjoyed the gorgeous sunset.
Tuesday morning showed promise of sun and not rain!!
Which it was but the waves were so strong Baylor was afraid to go out in them and actually the lifeguards did not let anyone go out past the break point. The water was all stirred up do to the storms from the last few days and it was not a safe place to play in. But we looked for shells to add to our collection and played in the sand.
He dug another deep hole but not as deep as the last one he did. He was proud of it though.
And another $20.00 for another 25 minutes of fun. He was much better at staying still in life and moving around in the game this time. His dream now is to own one of these systems!!
Dinner was at Nicola Pizza which is not our favorite place but it is for the rest of the family. We shared fries, salad and stromboli with Leslie and it was a good time for our last meal at the beach.
Outside was a horseshoe crab shell. They are creepy!
Someone gave Baylor a squirt gun and he had a great time playing with it in the surf.
We had an ice cream on the walk back and shared a funnel cake with everyone. It was cold and a bit gummy but still good.
Wednesday morning was my last coffee on the patio.
We went to Sammy's for breakfast and had our last meal there this year.
We made it home safely and unpacked the car. The mountain of laundry alone!!
The doggies were at the clubhouse since we left and when I picked them up at 5:00 it finally felt like we were home.
All my kids, will all my heart!
