Roller Skating with Ryder

We asked Ryder to spend the night with us and his mom brought him over in the late morning.  They had some lunch and I went outside to start a pinata for Hallowe'en and saw Baylor wiggling his tooth.  I told him to tell me when he lost his tooth, just as a joke. I was not outside more than a minute and they came out to me with the tooth.

Apparently as soon as I said it, the tooth came out.

And I nearly lost it on the patio when I was working on this thing.  One must start early as these take many weeks to finish.

We changed in to water clothes and hiked down to the creek.  Baylor actually pulled Ryder in the wagon. I guess he was trying to be a great host to his guest.

He pulled him the whole way down to the creek.  Ryder protected us with his rifle.

There was already a family camped down there; chairs, coolers, etc but plenty of room for everyone.  But the family that was there, who had about five kids between them, used swear works for just about every other word.  Thankfully the boys were not listening at all.   It is a pretty dry summer so they had lots of rocks to play on.

Of course they both peed in the creek.

Baylor took Ryder to the rock look out all by himself.

They found sticks to play with and just had fun in the water and sunshine.

I mostly sat on the bank near by watching them play.  We were there for a long time but had to head in for dinner and get ready for a birthday party later in the evening.

Natalie invited Baylor to her skating party and they said it was OK for Ryder to join us.  The boys were excited to go. Ryder had his own skates and Baylor and I had to use theirs.

I have not skated in over 14 years, the last time we remember going was to Jason's birthday party when Gloria and I were first dating.  But I did it to help Baylor who was at first excited and then lost his mind because he said it was much harder here.  He finally accepted the offer of a walker/helper and then enjoyed himself the rest of the evening.  I only wiped out once on my first lap and managed to stay upright the rest of the time.

The boys did great as well.  Ryder even raced in the boys race.  There were three boys and the other two were about five years older.

The party room was hot an musty smelling but a fun dark light room.

The birthday girl is 12!  We moved into our house the day she was born so we have been in the house for 12 years.  Crazy!

My little man zipping around on the few laps they make you go the other way around the rink.  They did not play the Knock Three times song like when I was a kid but we did shake our booties to the music.  When the did the hokey pokey I had already taken my skates off.  Those narrow skates were killing my double wide feet.

The birthday gang.

Mandy is a great neighbor and friend!  So lucky we picked our house 12 years ago.

My last shots of Baylor trying to show my a skill.

And the next shot is of him wiping out.  He was done after that.

The boys did sparklers when we arrived at the house.  It was nice a dark at 9 so it was a lot of fun.

And of course they set stuff on fire.

Round Up

8-22

The fur babies enjoying the morning sunshine.

Poor Eddy is so frail and thin.

I went to Big Lots during my lunch and spied this lovely tool, for when a whole grape just seems to be too much.

Beautiful sky today!

Baylor was out riding his bike and attached his wagon to it with a piece of rope.  He was doing all kinds of tricks with it and all I could envision was the wagon taking him down one way or another.

But he survived!

He was able to stay home with Gloria, I think it is the only day they have spent together all summer.  They went to the Coliseum to play games and he had enough points for a flame lamp: red light, fan and golden fabric flames. He loves is as does Grimm.

He has had a loose tooth for several weeks and I was looking at it and saw the other tooth coming in behind it.   This is his second shark tooth!

8-23

Baylor spent the day with Gloria again and stopped by to see me after his hair cut.  Super cute of course!

Selfie with Diana and Bob photo bombing in the back!

It was Megan's birthday today.  She likes cake and frosting just not together so we had the bakery not frost the corner.  They thought we were nuts.  And we are.

Bob again.

I meet Gloria and Baylor at Tokyo Diner to celebrate Gloria's 46th birthday.  I had balloons, a party hat, party horns and a bag of stuff from the Dollar Tree.  They thought we were nuts. And we are.

But we had fun celebrating.  We are usually the only people at the table but there were two other people there already and I don't think they appreciated out celebrations.

But celebrated we did!!

We had a nice ice cream cake at home after supper.

8-24

Baylor went back to school this morning!  I made her chocolate chip cookies and we put them in a bag with a note.

We took the first day photo.  He said volcanologist only because we read a book about volcanoes the night before. He followed it by he wants to be many things and cannot decide just yet.

I have been waiting for three weeks to get my hair cut.  It is too long!  I wanted to have it cut before vacation but my stylist was on early maternity leave.

Before

After.  We took a lot off the back and it feels much better.

I found a lone white snowball in all the green, faded ones.

8-25

Megan's daughter had an date with her grandparents in the morning and Megan did not want to have them pick her up at her day care so she came in to wait until they came down from where they live.  She had to sit with someone while her mom was in the morning meeting and asked to sit with me.  I do have all the fun Lego mini figures after all.

We Snapchatted to because how fun is that?  Totally a lot of fun!

Face swapping is always fun!

8-26

I had Baylor make a Snap while we were on our way into school.  I loved his choice of filter!  It was the best I had for Dad's birthday wish.

I took a nice photo of our beautiful selves to send to them as well.

The tooth is still here and still super wiggly.  He works on it all the time but does not want to pull it out.  It will not be long now.
