I changed Jack's outfit so he could stay a bit longer.  Tara gave me the great idea of using craft tape to make him into an Easter egg so he can stay longer still.  That will look great for April!

Finally went and had my hair cut!  I really want to go shorter but I am not emotionally ready yet.  

Another gorgeous sky!  

I was talking to a coworker about my wonky air dried hair and how much it changes with the round brush and dryer and then the welding tools.  

This is before the flat ironing but quite an improvement.  

The school had clothing themes each day but I only managed to take a photo today of words on your shirt day. He picked it out himself and was excited to wear it.  

While I was watching the news in the evening the weather guy mentioned he went to Rossmoyne to read to the 4th grade and there was Vanessa from next door in the photo.  So I took a photo of the TV and texted it to Mr Doug. Vanessa is on the middle, right wearing a red shirt and hair pulled back by a headband. 

Saturday Antics

We had swimming class on this beautiful day.  They are not jumping into the deep end this session, which is sad because he was going to try it this time.  I know he would have done it, because he would not say that he would try if he had not made up his mind.  Someday I will see him leap from the board into the deep water and swim to the ladder.  

Mom and Dad were at the house when we got home.  We went to Hoss's for lunch as part of a fund raiser for one of my neighbor's granddaughter.  She has cancer and part of the money would go to her.  They also had raffle baskets that we contributed to as well.  When we got home I asked Dad to help hang some shelves, one in the living room and one in the bathroom.  Love them!! 

And they helped me close the pool  Summer is nearly over for sure.  

Just A Few Things

Grimm has become a wonderful addition to our family.  He has made himself at home and comfortable with all of us, especially Eddy.  He has no fear of Eddy anymore and is very happy to take over her bed.  In the mornings when I feed them, they both wait until the other is done and then they switch bowls to clean them up. It is quite funny to watch them eating out of each other's bowls.  

I am glad we have the new tile floors because he practically goes swimming in the water dish.  If you look you can see his feet in the bowl.  He is a weirdo and we love him! 

Meme and Pap came over for their first stay in the addition.  We went out to dinner and Pap was teaching Baylor how to flip coins and bet on which side it would land.  Nothing like a bit of gambling before dinner.  

Last week I cleaned out my liquor cabinet and took it to the garage to repaint it.  I had this built by my friend's dad, Jasper.  He has built several pieces for us over the years and I love all of them.  He could take any request and make it happen.  I wanted a cabinet for booze so I had a box from the liquor store on the floor.  I measured it and added room for another bottle, five bottles across if I remember right, and then two boxes high.  A few weeks later I picked this up.  It is perfect.  But the crappy crackle paint was not perfect.  I never even finished it. For years the door was not even painted and stood behind the cabinet.  I finally got the bug to paint it. 

I found a really pretty green called Dragonfly which is totally perfect in our family.  I wanted to try the DIY chalk paint I have seen online and this was my first piece with it.  I used plaster of Paris, water, and the paint.  The paint covered well in two coats and distressed well.  The crackle crap added to the distressing and really worked out well.  

I love how the the distressing around the knob turned out.  

I waxed it when I was done and other than next time I am going to buy a polishing thing for the drill, the finish turned out really well.  I love it even more now!  

Family Reunion and a few other things we did.

The last Saturday was the Miller Family reunion.  It runs pretty much the same every year. The kids get older and taller, the food is always good, and each family sits with each other.  And we have a good time every year.  This year they did the kids games again.  Heather and I decided that our kids were old enough for the games they used to do with the now older kids.  These older kids loved doing the games again!  Baylor was a bit perplexed about the first one.  They place a gummy treat on a paper plate.  They used to cover it with flour or something but this year they used canned whipped cream.  They cannot use their hands and have to find the gummy and stand up.  Baylor found it right away but did not get the bite and stand up part.  But he had fun being with the big kids.  

Connor was second.

Baylor was happy to eat the peach gummy. 

And Brigid was just super cute covered in cream.  

.  The next game was a cloths pin drop.  Everyone was a winner not like in the old days.  

And the peanut toss.  Baylor did not find the winning peanuts or have the most but was happy with his bag of peanuts to take home. 

Heather loves photo booths and we set one up at a chalk board.  I wrote Miller Family Reunion with the date across the top and then we had a tripod with her camera set up to take everyone's photo.  Once we get together again (she left for vacation a few days after the reunion) I will add more of the family shots

Brigid also rocked my sunglasses.  She is such a sweet girl!  

The grab bags had Chinese yo-yos that were a hit with everyone large and small. We played several rounds of Bingo, Now you have it now you don't gift exchange, and then dispersed.  It is not like in the olden days of reunions that lasted all day.  They ate, played, sat in chairs talking, and ate and played some more.  People are busy and have short attention spans 

My Eddy girl.  She is starting to show her age (12) but is still my beautiful daughter in a dog suit. 

Garden update:  Things are growing well and finally there are more plants than dirt showing and I love it.  The butterflies and bees are everywhere but unfortunately no honey bees to be seen.  

The girls have been playing with Baylor a lot the last few days.  Baylor took them out to climb the pine trees.  

Baylor is doing better sleeping in in the mornings.  Especially when Lori is sleeping in with him.  One morning I walked by one morning and all three of them were sleeping together.  Eddy does not jump on to the bed very much any morel so it was nice to see her up there.  

I found a blog via Pinterest that inspired a craft project.  Our project morphed a bit from the chicks to spiders but we enjoyed the project and time together.
