Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas!  A few cute snaps of my family one of which made it to the Christmas card and one was banned from being published but this is my blog/scrapbook so it is going on here.

Tuesday was Christmas Eve and I was off work.  Meme and Pap arrived around 3 and Baylor dressed in his Santa suit to take some photos with them.

Since we have not seen them in months they had Baylor's birthday presents to give to him.  They gave him some nice superheros to play with.

I made dinner, meat loaf, mashed potatoes with gravy, spaghetti squash gratin,  mac and cheese, and succotash.  It all was very good just very blah on the plate.  I tend to make monochromatic meals!

Eddy helped to clean the baking tray that held the meatloaf.  It was such hard work that she had to lay down to finish it.

After dinner I took Meme, Pap, and Baylor to visit Dave, Laura, and baby Adam.  He is just 9 months old and weighs 22 lbs and wears size 18 months! His mom had just bathed him and while we were interrupting his usual bath time he did really well having us there.

Meme with one grandson and two great-grandsons.  We did not know it but her other grandson was at the same time on his way to our house for the holiday.

Laura, Adam, Pap, and Dave.

Baylor was of course a wonderful little friend to Adam and had him smiling and entertained.  Baylor was running like Flash back and forth and Adam was laughing and smiling at his antics.  We had a nice but brief visit because Adam did start showing signs of being ready for bed so we headed home.

After we were home, Baylor wanted to do a craft with Meme which was painting a pack of Christmas balls. He had no goal in mind other than covering them with as much paint as possible.  Meme tried for a few things like wreaths and trees and one with a Santa face.

After that I went to take a shower and when I came out he was asleep between Meme and Jason. Meme read him the book she brought him Snowman Soup and he feel asleep at the end of the book.  I carried him to bed and had Jason help bring up the gifts.

Christmas morning Eddy woke me up at 5:30 to go out.  Baylor did not wake up until 6 and we just talked in bed for a half hour.  He never mentioned Christmas and when he asked if we could get up and walked out the living room, he still did not mention it.  The gifts were all there and the lights were on.  He was just wandering around and talking to me.  I asked him who came last night and he replied Meme and Pap.  I asked him who else came and he said Jason, which was true.  I asked him again who came last night and he was very sure in his answer of Meme and Pap.  I had to point to the all the gifts and then he finally saw the penquin flashlight friend and asked if that was for him!  He took it downstairs to wake up Meme and ran back upstairs finally excited Christmas arrived.

And away he went unwrapping everything he could find.  Santa was very good to him and brought him everything he asked for:  a Viking helmet and ax, a Toothless dragon, Hiccup, some cars and couple surprises. The surprises were plentiful too.

While I helped Baylor unwrap, Eddy got her Christmas lovins from Mamma.  She was snoring for most of the morning, on her back with her belly being rubbed.

Santa had brought all the gifts in red Ho Ho paper and Mommy and Mamma gave him everything in the blue penguin paper.

In between his gifts he played Santa and handed out gifts to everyone else.  We bought Meme a globe shaped decoration with a little scene, moving train, light projection, and plays music.  She loved it.

And a pink nightgown he picked out.

I had saved gifts we had received in the mail from Lucas and my brother.  He was very pleased with his new Avengeners (as he says it) craft set and warm weather gear.

He gave Mamma her own woobie.  Baylor had wanted to make one for her for her birthday but I never got around to doing it.  So I made sure it was ready for Christmas.  We went shopping together where he picked out the fleece and the ribbons. He picked the size and the order of the ribbons.  He got all the credit of course. He was the designer and I was the seamstress who brought his vision to life.

.
Mom and Dad came over for lunch and while I was working in the kitchen Dad helped to put together the Lego train Baylor received in his stocking.  Dad had never put together any Lego things before and he had fun working on it.  They apparently had some really good conversations during this time.

During the turkey dinner where we had all the left overs from the day before plus a pearl onion gratin and green bean casserol and Meme's cranberry relish for some color, Baylor made his own table and chairs with a small chair for his table and a box for his chair.  He did not want to sit with us even though there was plenty of room.

After dinner we exchanged gifts with my parents.  Mom had asked for a new nightgown and Baylor picked hers out also (which is also why Meme received one).

Jamie and Laura had sent a few items in Mom's box and one was a whoopie cushion.  To say he loved it in an understatement as he blew two holes in it by the end of the day.  It still works and duct tape fixed it up good as new.

Demonstrating his new toy.

Everyone was out of the house around 4 and we were all tired.  Baylor watched Sonic on the computer on one couch and Gloria was watching TV on the other couch.  I picked through the gifts to find Despicable Me 2 and went downstairs for some quite movie time. I was about half way through the movie when Baylor joined me for the rest.  He saw it in the theater but I had never seen it.   We finished it and then watched it again while cuddling on the bed and eating Christmas cookies.  We had a wonderful holiday with lots of family, food and love.

Christmas Aunts Meeting

Because of the snow last weekend (or the forecast for a bad storm) we postponed the Aunt's meeting until today which happens to be the Winter Solstice.  And the weather forecast was to be in the 60s!!  Baylor has been a bit confused why we have had all this snow in the fall.  He was looking forward to winter so we can have snow in the proper season.  Unfortunately most of the snow melted today!  But I got a few snaps outside.  I need a good head shot for the dated photo ornaments I give to the grandparents.

He loves to pull faces and it is heard to get just a good smile but I love his silly personality and those are just as wonderful as the 'perfect' shot.

Heather had the party today and we both had craft items for everyone to do.  We had smore's ornies, foam penquins and when it looked like everyone was having fun I brought out the stuff to make hand print ornaments.  I was really not sure if I was going to bring everything to make them but I am glad I decided to as they were a hit.

I helped everyone make the initial prints and then it was up to each person if they wanted to decorate the ornies or if they wanted me to do it. It was about half and half and all of them turned out wonderfully, once people get past the need to be 'perfect'. I kept saying we are not going for made in China perfect, it is supposed to look homemade and unique.  And they were.

There is always a lot of talking, catching up and remembering stories of days gone by.

After the food and crafts we opened the gifts.  The kids were playing all morning with the weapons but were all having a good time.  I never found out what the game was but it lasted all day.

Brigid modeled for me again this year.  She loves for me to take her photo and Heather loved these.

We only had eight Aunts this year and the gifts were all wonderful.  It was fun watching everyone open their gifts and enjoy what they received.  Aunt Betty was first and I must admit I coveted her snowman Thirty-one tote!

Conner was in his jammies all day!  Heather said he comes home and changes right into jammies.  I change too into my stay at home clothes, which are also my jammies so I can completely relate.

Joan was second and she received peanut butter meltaway candies from a local candy maker.

The dogs were looking for lovins and a seat to steal.  If you got up they were in your place before you released it.

The kids checked in everyone and then but were really more interested in their games.  Eli is still really good with the boys.  It was five years ago that Eli held the newborn Baylor on his lap and they bonded way back then.  His is like a big brother for Baylor when they are together.  I love seeing them together.

The cousins hung out on the floor watching.  They are the next generation of Aunts and I hope they will keep up the tradition in the future.  They will be just as crazy as we are I know it.

I got involved in the gifts and did not take many more photos other than Murphy who took over Lynda's seat and made himself comfortable.
