Happy Birthday to Adam

Baby Adam turned one this weekend and his parents, my nephew Dave and his girlfriend Laura, had the party at a local community park.  Meme was with us for the week and was able to go along. Otherwise Pap would not have brought her down.  Since Adam is her second great-grandson, she was thrilled to be there.  So was Baylor, he loves a new place to play.

 Jason was with us also and this was the first time he was able to meet his nephew.  The brothers are not very close and they do not live very close either.  But I think the enjoyed each other at the party. Adam enjoyed the balloons most of all and I remember Baylor did the same at that age.  Jason is showing him the balloons while Laura's dad is holding Adam. 

Now Laura's mom has him with the balloons. 

And now he is in Meme's arms.  They are all very proud and happy grandparents.  

Baylor was just silly but also a good and loving cousin.

The cake for the family was a cute farm cake.  Adam had a small round cake with cream cheese frosting to dive into all by himself. 

But first he had to try on some shades,

and have a bite to eat.  

Baylor did his best to distract him but Adam is an eater and was not to be easily swayed.  

And finally it was time to sing Happy Birthday and watch him eat his cake.

At first he thought the 1 candle was a fork or other eating utensil.  He kept dipping it in the frosting and sucking it off.

We gave Adam two books and an Amazon gift card.  I bought him a That's Not My Dinosaur and an Alphabet book.  We had a lot of the That's Not My... books (we still do) because I love how they have texture on every page.  I showed the book to Laura and explained the cover is the first page and the mouse is on every page.  We always had fun finding the mouse when Baylor was younger.  This was the first time Baylor tried to open gifts belonging to someone else.  He has never done that before!  

Jason gave Adam a very cute light up and musical train.  Adam was instantly mesmerized.  The train gene must come with the nuggies ;0)!!

It was a nice party and I was glad I was able to bring Meme and Jason along with us.
