Take me to the Fair (right after we cut my hair!)

I am pretty hair lazy and while I have been better at getting it cut in the last few years, I still only got three to four times a year for a cut or trim.  It just was getting too long and taking too long to dry in the morning. Tuesday I scheduled an appointment for Wednesday.  With photos in hand of Reese Whitherspoon's hair, I sat down and said cut away.  It is hard to see but if you see the curve of the chair in the before photo you can see it is about three+ inches off.  And boy it seems short!  Mom colored it for me so maybe people will not think Baylor is my grandson again.  

Wednesday  was also the first night of the fair so of course we were there as soon as I arrived home.  

He rode the helicopters in the Spiderman copter. The Brown girls were also on the ride on other copters.  

We rode the Ferris wheel. 

Our house is there behind the row of trees on the other side of the little rode.  

And the fair.

Meme was with us but not rider of course.  

And then we started with games.  We did the water shooter game first.  Meme won Baylor a ball penguin. It was the first of many new friends we brought home during the fair.  

We rode the big spinning bears together.  

He rode the motorcycle by himself.  I saw Heston on the same ride and we said Hello.  He went to Mrs. Brenda's also and his mom said they stayed until June when she retired.  It was nice to see him after six months. How fast they change!. 

We had ice cream and Meme went over for a hot dog.  While she was gone lightening hit across the creek  When she came back it hit again and we headed home.  It was nearly dark and within a hour a big storm hit.  It was the only night the fair had rain which was good because Wednesday is not a very big night and they have had rain on Thursday and Friday nights which is a bad thing for them.  The fair is a big fund raiser for this very small town fire hall.

Thursday Lori and Meme took him to the fair so of course there are no photos.  Friday I was off work and I had plans with Grandma Karen to go to the Green Dragon.  Our favorite Friday place and we have never gone together.  Baylor ended up wanting to go with us instead of staying with Meme and Lori.  I was surprised he wanted to go with us.  He had fun with Meme but he spent a lot of time with me while she was here.  He even went with me to the Dragon instead of staying with Buddy and Grandma.  I guess he wanted some Mommy time!   I was ok with that of course.  He tired all the little kid rockers at one Amish furniture store.  

When I was young we visited the Green Dragon while here on vacation.  The birch beer barrel was there way back then.  Karen had never noticed it before.  

It was pretty hot so we had some ice cream straight off.  Baylor started out wanting coconut but changed to black raspberry at the last minute.  I went with the coconut in case he changed his mind and Karen had butter brickle.  

After buying a honeydew, black berries and three hex signs we went back to Mom's.  Her former neighbors were there for lunch and we arrived just in time to join them.  It was a nice meal and Karen appreciated being served and cleaned up after!  Mom made Larry a birthday cake (spice cake which is Karen's favorite also) and Baylor of course had to help blow out the candles.  

We headed home and then back out to the fair for night three. First we checked out all the tractors. There were not very many this year but we still found several to enjoy. 

We walked through the vendor tables which Baylor hated and after that Karen was ready to go home.  Right after we walked her to our house I ran into Danielle, a coworker and her daughter Addison. We stayed together with them until they left.  Baylor was willing to go in the bounce house this time with Addy and they did several rides together.  

They played the kid's games and the prize for each game was a piece of candy. 

They rode on the cars and Addy was sad at the end because Baylor chose the motorcycle instead of riding with her.  

But when they rode the bears together, all was well.  They did a pretty good job making it spin faster by turning the wheel. 

They rode the cars that whipped around the track. 

And we rode the Ferris wheel again. 

Addy and Danielle were right across from us and we kept chasing them.  

Baylor won twin snakes at the dart/balloon game.  

We stopped to have some dinner. Baylor said he was not hungry but I bought chicken corn soup anyway.  He ate half of it.  

And then had a blue laughy taffy from his goody bag. 

Addy went with a hamburger and a red taffy.  

We rode the hay ride around the fair and after that we all headed out.  

But before we could leave we ran right into the tractor parade.  I love the tractor parade and there have been several times in the past I have run out there with Baylor to see it.  We had a front row show and I whooped it.  I like to make things super charged fun for Baylor and me.  Addy looked at me several times like I was a crazy woman. I see her often enough but it is usually at work or a few times at her house.  Both places I am rather reserved.  But in my back yard at a fair during a tractor parade, I have a lot of fun!  

He even rode the horses.  He was not interested on Thursday but had fun this night.  

Saturday we had a good day at home (which I will post separately) and went to the fair again with Meme.  He was really into the games this year because he wanted to win more friends.  I think we brought home three or four a night. And each game was at least $3.00 to start.  He did really good at the dart game and played it twice.  She was very good with him showing him how to hold the dart each time.  He even traded up his yellow dog for an orange tiger on his second round. 

Meme won again on the water game.  Somehow she rocks this game but we determined that number three was the winning water gun.  

Back to the darts.

On the hay ride I asked if they could put an extra bale of hay on the ride so Meme would not have to sit down.  It worked out really well.  Meme got to be the Queen of the hay ride and Baylor was apparently her court jester!  

And mine of course.  

Here we are coming up to our house.  

And there she is!  Next year it may look different back there. We will see.  

He rode the horse again.  He is quite an equestrian for someone who rides twice a year!  

And this was the last ride of the fair for this year.  It is sure to be back next year!  Which is good because I am sure I spend at least $40.00 each night I was there!

Family Reunion and a few other things we did.

The last Saturday was the Miller Family reunion.  It runs pretty much the same every year. The kids get older and taller, the food is always good, and each family sits with each other.  And we have a good time every year.  This year they did the kids games again.  Heather and I decided that our kids were old enough for the games they used to do with the now older kids.  These older kids loved doing the games again!  Baylor was a bit perplexed about the first one.  They place a gummy treat on a paper plate.  They used to cover it with flour or something but this year they used canned whipped cream.  They cannot use their hands and have to find the gummy and stand up.  Baylor found it right away but did not get the bite and stand up part.  But he had fun being with the big kids.  

Connor was second.

Baylor was happy to eat the peach gummy. 

And Brigid was just super cute covered in cream.  

.  The next game was a cloths pin drop.  Everyone was a winner not like in the old days.  

And the peanut toss.  Baylor did not find the winning peanuts or have the most but was happy with his bag of peanuts to take home. 

Heather loves photo booths and we set one up at a chalk board.  I wrote Miller Family Reunion with the date across the top and then we had a tripod with her camera set up to take everyone's photo.  Once we get together again (she left for vacation a few days after the reunion) I will add more of the family shots

Brigid also rocked my sunglasses.  She is such a sweet girl!  

The grab bags had Chinese yo-yos that were a hit with everyone large and small. We played several rounds of Bingo, Now you have it now you don't gift exchange, and then dispersed.  It is not like in the olden days of reunions that lasted all day.  They ate, played, sat in chairs talking, and ate and played some more.  People are busy and have short attention spans 

My Eddy girl.  She is starting to show her age (12) but is still my beautiful daughter in a dog suit. 

Garden update:  Things are growing well and finally there are more plants than dirt showing and I love it.  The butterflies and bees are everywhere but unfortunately no honey bees to be seen.  

The girls have been playing with Baylor a lot the last few days.  Baylor took them out to climb the pine trees.  

Baylor is doing better sleeping in in the mornings.  Especially when Lori is sleeping in with him.  One morning I walked by one morning and all three of them were sleeping together.  Eddy does not jump on to the bed very much any morel so it was nice to see her up there.  

I found a blog via Pinterest that inspired a craft project.  Our project morphed a bit from the chicks to spiders but we enjoyed the project and time together.
