Easter Part One

Sometime last fall/winter time Baylor and I worked in the gardens cutting back the dead plants so we would not have to rush in Spring when the new plants were coming up.  Well, we were busy and it stayed out there most of the winter.  When we were ready to move it several weeks ago the mower battery was dead and I was not interested in walking all this to the creek bank with the wheelbarrow. We told Lori about the mower and she determined the battery was dead and bought a new one.  The Monday before Easter all three of us worked together to pick up the plant material and haul it to the bank.  I don't know how many trips she made on the tractor but I would guess it was about 10.  It would have been more had we used the wheelbarrow.

Baylor was a big help usual.  He dug holes for me and found worms.  It took about an hour and a half but we got it done together.

Friday Meme and Pap arrived for Easter weekend.  Their gift to Baylor would not fit in a basket so we put it together on Saturday morning.  He was pretty happy about it too.

In the afternoon, after I returned from my little adult escape for a hair cut and trip to the store, Baylor and Meme colored eggs.  Baylor loved it and he remembered coloring eggs with Grandma last year.  I don't know why it amazes me when he remembers things from last year but I find it amazing when he tells me event he remembers.

I found another pair of bunny egg grabbers and Meme used the pink pair and he remembered using them last year also.

Grandma bought him a tye dye kit with sponge rollers and thick paint.  He loved them.

And then we found the glitter.  Boys like sparkly stuff too.

And so did Meme.  She is a really good sport about doing things with him.

Here is telling Pap, who just walked in the door, that they were coloring eggs.

Meme was very proud of her two painted eggs.

After he did hid two eggs he was ready to play and off he went. Meme finished the rest of the eggs in the dye bath. She even wrote on some with crayons.

Part of my prep was dipping these marshmallows in chocolate and adding sprinkles.  Baylor took them to school and they were a hit.

I also made chocolate eggs of all sort.

And more peanut butter eggs, truffles, and coconut eggs.
.

Easter Morning, Grandma and Buddy arrived and the Easter Buddys got to work hiding eggs.  When they were done, we let him lose.  He definitely remembers how to find eggs.

Crocus in the grass.  I need to plant more bulbs this fall as I love seeing the crocus in the grass.

We were all milling around the patio when all the eggs were found and it started raining. We gathered up everything the Easter bunny had left on the trampoline, a t-ball stand, balls, a glove, and a few other things, and headed inside.  Baylor was so cute saying, 'We weren't expecting rain today," over and over.

We put the wagon load of eggs into a basket and he opened them all to see what he had.  His favorite were the skittles and jelly beans.

While he was unpacking items kept appearing on the table in the living room.  I had to point it out to him in fact as he did not even notice it at first.  Meme and Pap, Grandma and Buddy and Mama and I all contributed to the items on the table.  I don't think his little boy wants for anything.

There were several outside toys such as golf and paddle ball and net rackets.

And candy and Tic Tacs and movies and Leapster stuff and sponge capsules and seeds and bubbles and chocolate covered sunflower seeds and clothes and much more.

When everything was opened, he was ready to help set the table.  I don't like to hide real eggs for some reason so the two dozen eggs we did went into display plates and then were made into deviled eggs for lunch.

One of his initial favorite toys was a forehead flashlight.  It turned out to be so cool, I went out and bought one for all of us.

He was wake at 3:30 that morning and around noon he fell asleep on the couch.  He had just eaten an apple so I did not want to wake him up for lunch.

Dave and Laura joined us for lunch which was very nice to see them.  She is due April 10 so she did not want to go home which is over an hour away as to be too far from the hospital in case she went into labor.  Meme was thrilled to have them also.  I took some photos but did not get any of Laura other than her back!

Mom, Dad, and I ate at the table in the living room so the everyone else could visit.  There is not enough room for all of us at the table anyway.  Baylor woke up after lunch around time for dessert.  Pap had already left and his first question was did he leave Meme behind.  Which he did.

Aww, Eddy!

I had to take a photo of the island because it NEVER looks like this unless I am hosting a meal at the house.  I wish it looked more like this more often though!

How can it be April already?

Today is April 1st and I really need to catch up.  We have just been busy and I have not had time to sit and play online.  Meme is here for Easter weekend so Baylor is otherwise occupied.  Since St. Patrick's day, we had a food day at work.  I made Irish Sushi, corned beef, mashed potatoes, mustard and cabbage.

The following week we went to the circus.  Lori usually takes Baylor and this year he wanted me to go along.  I worked from home in the morning, we all went to my appointment, and then headed to the Zembo Temple for the circus.  Baylor was all dressed up in his new yellow boots and matching rain coat.

Meme sent him some circus money and he bought a blue sword right away.  For all he cared, we could have left right then and there, gone home and played with the sword for the rest of the day.

But we lured him with his first taste of cotton candy to the seats.  He was asking about it because he saw it on a show.  I am not keen on the grocery store cotton candy and had told him he could buy it at the circus.  He did like it.  But who doesn't?

The circus was all set up and since we were at the first showing on a Thursday afternoon we had our pick of seating.  It was over half empty and that is not being pessimistic.

The first act was the trapeze.  This is a small circus and while they were all good at what they did and there were no falls and I cannot do what they were doing, Alex the Lion was more exciting than these performers were.

And then the English Sheep dogs performed.

And the rope ladies.

Baylor and his sword.

And then the clowns did an act: looking through a telescope at things.  Here he is holding the big dipper.

And then the spinning wheel thing.

And the man and his horse.

And the tumblers.  They were the most exciting of the first act.  There were seven of them I believe and they were very good.

This row started with just the clowns and as each man jumped over them he was added to the line.  At the end of the show, Baylor went up to some of them and told them he liked their moves.  He was so cute!

At intermission he rode the pony cart.

and took his 5 turns down the blow up slide.

And then he had his face painted by the clown.

The second act was shorter but to Baylor is was much longer. He was done and ready to go.  But was stayed to see the juggler (he was also the man with the horse),

These two on some high bar.  All the aerial acts were done by the same people just different pairings of them.

The colorful ponies but the same trainer as the dogs.

And these two on these flexible poles they swayed back and forth on..  They were so close to the ceiling they could not stand on their hands like they were trying to.

We had a nice family day and all in all the circus was OK.

For our next trick we made some more sugar eggs for Easter gifts.  This time Baylor helped me mix the sugar part and was very interested in making another one.  I helped a bit with some of the finer icing details but most of it was him.

And then we had snow!  It did not last long but was quite pretty.

To be continued...  (I am tired)
