The morning was busy finishing packing bags and Gloria's car for our beach vacation!!! We booked our July 4th weekend vacation last year when we were at Rehoboth for our first beach vacation. I love the beach, I always have. I hope Baylor shares my love for it as he grows up. We had to make a few stops before hitting the road, neither of us ever plan ahead and fill up the car before the day we leave for anything. We stopped for lunch at a Ruby Tuesdays about half way there. Baylor was having a hard time watching his movies so we tried a tent out of his old swaddle blanket but it was not dark enough and kept drooping down blocking his view.
So I found a large beach towel and made a better tent. He finally could see his movie but after a bit things were a bit too quiet.
Because he fell asleep in his tent!!! He slept until we arrived at the Walls. We never hit any dreaded beach traffic which I was worried about and were able to check in right away. Our room was on the second floor of an old house that was broken up into four apartments. Lugging everything up the stairs was a pain but I was excited to be there.
We have only stayed in the cabins so this was a nice change in space. The first room was a combo kitchen, dining and bath rooms. The old porcelain sink was in perfect condition! We had a small stove and a fridge. The bathroom and shower were on the same wall between the two rooms.
The second room was the bedroom and of course Baylor wanted to sleep on the top bunk, The story of him possibly falling off all the way to the floor made him change his mind and choose the bottom bunk. We used the top bunk for our bags.
We did not put anything in the dresser but we did use the wardrobe for our hanging clothes. It was spare and clean and just enough for the three of us.
The door lead to a screened in porch which we called our living room.

The living room was a welcome place to sit when we were there and a nice playing place for Baylor.
And a great place for coffee and breakfast.
And for hanging our towels and wet suits.
One of the plants I love to see in this town are the hydrangeas, they are so much more beautiful in this town for some reason. They must love the salty air.
Mostly in blues and lavenders.
But some were in pinks.
Gloria was tired and asked to stay in a rest while Baylor and I walked to the beach for our first sandy visit. We stopped at Ryans for some new sand toys and found a nice spot to dig.
There was a Mennonite family on the beach as well. They were feeding the gulls!! And then Baylor would chase them when they got too close to us.

Baylor wanted to play in the water and of course I let him.
Come in Mommy, it is not cold, he said.
He made some friends with a family of boys from Dover who were there for the day. They all were soaked and had fun in the water. Until the sun went down behind the stores and it got cold quickly!!
After the boys left Baylor and I got an ice cream cone (two for just $11.00) I love beach prices but I love this little guy more and he is worth every penny of that $5.50 cone.

When we got back to the room Gloria was watching X-Men on the laptop and Baylor joined her. I made Ramen soup for dinner and then went for a walk to see if I could see the full moon over the ocean. Sadly it was too cloudy but I did pick up some over priced milk and paper towels at the local shop. Baylor was asleep when I got back and Gloria decided she her back would not do well in the double bed so we moved him in with me and she took the bunk bed. First day down, five more to go!
