Some Soup for Little Man's Soul

Karns had a good price on whole chickens so Saturday morning one of them became chicken corn noodle soup, one of his favorites.  We bought the corn Friday night at Oak Grove,  We all love this soup but especially Baylor.  I will freeze most of it for lunches this school year.  Why am I thinking about school lunches?  Because it starts in ten days!!!  Where does the time go when you are having fun?

Speaking of time passing, back in May Baylor brought home a paper bag with two zinnia seedlings for Mother's Day.  Three months later we have two large and lovely zinnia plants; one is purple and one is orange.

Eddy was outside the fence with us and headed into the snowball bush.  I wanted to get a picture of her with her sitting in the bushes but she did not want to wait.  Baylor offered to help me capture the moment.  My two babies in the bushes.

Last Day at Summer Day Care

After picking Baylor up from his last Friday at Mrs Mary's I took him to Oak Grove for Ice Cream and Vietnamese egg rolls.  Both items we both love!  I picked Chocolate Chocolate and he picked a Rainbow swirl with banana yellow, raspberry blue, and cherry red.

He got the last two egg rolls and loved every bite of them.

Garden Bounty

Tiny tomatoes, red and yellow raspberries, blackberries and green beans!  Baylor spent the entire day with Kartikey and his mom and I shared the fruit with them as a small thank you!

Knoebels with Kartikey

We had plans to go to Knoebels for a Gay Pride Picnic and we invited Kartikey to join us.  We have not seen him in weeks because the weekend after our beach vacation he left for TX with his grandparents for several weeks of visiting family.  He had just come home the previous Sunday but his parents were happy to share him with us for the day.  We packed our wagon with a crock pot of mac and cheese for the pot luck picnic and towels and such in case we hit the water park and made out way to the Pride pavilion.  It was mainly a lot of older, gay men with some women and families thrown in for good measure.  We meet up with Theresa and Buffy and sat with them at the back of the tent.

The boys were ready to ride so we bought them tickets right away.  Their first ride selection left me looking like this, a wet, hot mess!

From the sidelines, the ride looks like this.

They look so excited waiting for this ride to fill up.  But they were all smiles when the ride was spinning and whirling around.

Moms selfie.

With Kartikey along, I did not have to go on all rides and Baylor did not have to go it alone.  Win, win!!

It was pretty hot and a few hours before the pot luck was to start so we got the kids a small ice cream cone, which was two scoops!  Neither could finish their cone and both were covered in ice cream drippings.

Watching two boys was fine other then these two wanted to climb everything, every railing, every tree, anything!

But they did love the wooden roller coasters.  I look awful but they are super cute, little buddies together again.

Yelling at them to look here before we get to the top.  They love the Phoenix coaster because they got air under their butts.  I did too actually.  The wood coasters are fun and rattley!

Baylor spied the swans in the creek and wanted me to take a photo of them.  Ta-da!

The boys wanted to cool off so they are up there somewhere waiting in the splash zone of the water ride.

They did the spinning wheel of death ride and both loved it.

They rode the rocket ships.  And a few other rides.  But not too many as we spent a lot of time in lines!

The last ride we went on, at the end of the day, was the Impulse.  The line was out past the entrance gate all day long and was still there at 5:30 when we got in line.  We were in line for almost an hour.

Five turns in the cattle lines later we were on the steps.  Baylor kept saying the wait would be worth it being on the ride.  The boys were just at the right height but needed booster seats.

For Baylor that proved to be a bit too much. It is fast ride and I was screaming the entire time.  Baylor was crying at the end because the lap brace was pushing too hard into his belly.  He hated it, at least at that moment.  The ride assistant was super nice and pulled his brace off him first as soon as the buzzer sounded it was time to get off the ride.  He was tired and done for the day which did not help his enjoyment.  Kartikey loved the ride right off and I did too.  We headed out at sunset as the lights of the park were being to come one.

I bought the souvenir photo because his face kills me in it.  Of course I don't look at myself but he, he just makes me smile.

Take Me To The Fair, Two Nights In A Row

Thursday night was the first night of the full fair and we invited Caden, his brother Gavin, and his parents to join us at the fair.  We waited in the driveway to wave them down as they have never been to our house.  I noticed a few weeks ago something was growing in the compost pile and it turned out to be spaghetti squash.  Not something we eat often and certainly not as exciting as honeydew melon would have been but I will take it.  I am thinking of spaghetti squash and cheese (think mac and cheese but replacing the mac).  They have a few more weeks to go before they are ready.  We have four on the vines while is more than we would eat in a usual year. Growing our own definitely inspires us to eat more of them.

The boys were excited to see each other.  Caden went to COF Summer Camp over the summer and Gavin goes to a different day care.  Baylor was happy to see them both and all three boys had fun on the rides and bounce house and games.  And dinner of course.

We watched the tractor parade which, sadly, is smaller every year.  We stayed until the boys were out of tickets and they had to leave.

But Friday as soon as we got home, I walked over my cake contribution, chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting, and we spend all of our remaining money and tickets at the fair.

We love our little town with the orange firetrucks.

Baylor was excited to do more games especially the dart game.

He gave the dunk tank a try but was not able to dunk him.

The skee ball was fun but not like at the arcades were you get tickets with every round.  Wasted quarters but they were his to spend.

He loves the fishing tank and loves picking out a new friend with three sharks hooked on his line.

The fun house is still fun for him.  Mommy, watch me run through the ball pit!  Are you watching?

Yes, darling, I am.

He did great at the bowling pin game.  We also played the water squirt race game.  I thought he was winning but one of the ladies won.  She kindly gave Baylor her winning as I don't think she was playing for the stuffed prize.  Her and her friend were enjoying the fair I believe.

One ride he wanted on was the spinning wheel of death or something like that. My head was spinning and my stomach rolling just thinking about it.  I cannot do spinning like this!  Thankfully he was tall enough to go by himself and he was looking forward to it.

Oh to be young and so excited!  I love seeing his face!! I love being with him.  I just love him.

And off he spun.  He loved it.

Our loot haul for the night!  Plenty of new friends to add to the collection.

And our lovely neighbor friends Natalie and Vanessa were just getting started as we were on our way out.  Out of tickets, out of money, we were out of there!

But upon looking out my front window, seeing traffic backed up past my house on their way to the fair, it looked like many people were just getting their night started at the fair.
