I love planting crocus in the grass in the fall and seeing them bursting up in the spring.  They are pretty little splashes of color in the lawn.

My lucky dog, and we are lucky for her to still be here at 14.5 years old.  

It was a beautiful moon peeking though the clouds on Eddy's last trip out before I went to bed.  

Baylor feel asleep watching one of the last Harry Potter movies ( we have spent the last two weeks watching them in order.  I have not seen the last two so I was super excited to finally get to them)  

Where did he get those long legs?

Baylor was invited to go to Landon's and while he was away, I motivated myself to clean up the asparagus patch.  There is so much to do and I get so sore after ward!  Before:

While in there I found four more egg cases.  I need to find a safe place to put them since I disturbed their winter hiding place.  

I pried open the bird house, I will let Baylor see it before we clean it out.  

During most of the day I had large red beets slowing roasting in the oven.  After they were cool I  peeled them, cut them up and pickled them for red beet eggs for Easter.  Yum!  

St Patrick's Day

Tuesday Morning was so foggy on the drive in to work. There should be fields and a train crossover down that way but I could not see anything past about 50 feet.  

But the sun came out later that day and when I came home Baylor showed me his leprechaun trap he made with Meme.  They were visiting for the night because Pap had a Doctor's appointment on Thursday.  

He had a nice little hole dug in the grass camouflaged with leaves and had a hard time finding it himself.  He made me wait on the parking stones until he found it.  It was really fun seeing how serious he was about it.  He bent a stick over it like a croquette wicket to help catch the little green man.

I reminded Baylor to check his trap and was so excited to find a note from the leprechaun and some gold chocolate coins from him.  He really was excited! Which made me pretty happy too. 

It was food day at work and we had a lot of yummies.  I sent a photo of it to a friend and she was impressed.   Corned beef and cabbage, colcannon, creamed chipped beef with noodles, red lentil soup (from the vegetarian), two soda breads, shepherd's pie and fried cheese curds because we don't care what you bring as long as it is food.  

I made Irish Coffee Cheesecake.  

And Irish Cream cream cheese brownies.  

At home I had two pieces of corned beef in the crock pot braising all day.  There was no room in the crock pot for the veggies so I had to dip out the juice and put it in a pot to boil the carrots, potatoes and cabbage in.  It was still delicious and amazing.  Baylor ate fried rice and lo mein.  I think he is part Asian!  Hopefully the luck of the Irish filled us all today!! 

Daylight Savings

I woke up at what I thought was 5:20 because I changed my clock before going to bed.  I heard Gloria getting ready and she is usually out of the house at that time so I got up to check the clocks in the kitchen because I changed them too.  They all said 4:20.  Apparently my clock changes itself.  And now I was up and so was Eddy and Grimm.  Baylor was not coming home until much later in the day so I kept busy with usual stuff: laundry, dishes and other cleaning.  I took a short break on the bench at some point and Grimm came over looking for treats.  He looks like he is a starving cat, especially from this angle. 

Baylor came home around lunch time and we seriously spent the rest of the day on the couch watching Harry Potter movies.  He wanted to watch the last one and I talked him into watching them all in order before we watch the ending.  I have never seen the last two movies myself and I was looking forward to seeing the movies in order. He is doing well keeping up with them but I still have to help him out with plot lines and names.  We did not move from our places all afternoon and he fell asleep on the couch at 7:10 and finished The Half-Blood Prince by myself.  We may need to watch that one again because he missed most of it.  We took a few dark selfies to send to Mama. I rarely sit still for that long and was only able to because I am working on embroidery pieces for a gift for Heather.  But it was a good thing and good time with my little man. 

 

Day of Fun

On this lovely day we headed south to Gettysburg to visit Heather and her family.  Baylor got himself dressed and showed off his style.  His own style to be sure.  

Within minutes of arriving the kids were playing and then begging for Baylor to spend the night.  We were not prepared for that but us mom's did not see any issues with it.  Heather and I worked on Brigid's clothes for this Spring.  They are leaving this Friday for Caragena, Columbia and Heather needed to know what would fit her for the trip.  The fashion show started out fun but towards the end poor Brigid was done trying on clothes.  She was finally released to go play and Heather worked on sorting out other outgrown clothes while we chatted.  After lunch I pulled out some canvases I had created for Easter for the kids to paint.  Connor chose one that was a traditional chocolate bunny shape.  Baylor picked a large decorated egg.  

Brigid picked a bunny with a flower pot filled with tulips.   

It was nice they all were interested in painting and after they were all settled in Heather and picked out canvases to paint. We were left with the clear glue in egg shapes and they did not turn out as well as they have in the past.  The colors did not bleed under the glue lines and the lines never popped out like paintings we had done in the past.  

But we all had fun with our new Easter Artwork. 

I stayed until after 9:30, because I have a hard time leaving there because it is always a good time.  Heather sent me this by the time I got home saying Baylor was going to be mad he fell asleep in Brigid's bed.  He said he woke up some time and moved to the floor.   

March 11 Round Up

 It is definitely showing signs of Spring in these parts.  When we drove into town this morning it was 33 degrees and just five hours later it was 63 degrees. Heat blasting in the morning and all the windows down at lunch and the drive home.  Sandals will be out soon as I will stop picking out socks when getting dressed.  I love it.  

Baylor was tasked with looking at the tree buds by his substitute teacher.  I took him over to the neighbor's pussy willow but he was not impressed.  I love them!

We had beautiful weather and the house was open for three days straight.  Grimm loves the kitchen window and was there when we left in the morning. 

It said 80 for most of the drive around lunch time but was 79 when I parked and it was safe to take a photo. Close enough. 

Guess who was in the window when we got home? 

It was wacky clothes day.  Sadly other than a hat and mis-matched socks, he looks the same as any day.

Warm weather prevails and I love not having to grab socks when getting dressed. 

I did a bit of raking the night before and found our first mantis egg case. 

After school Baylor has been playing outside.  He was up to his silly tricks eating an apple on the basement doors.
