It is the second week in January and in south central PA that means one thing: Farm Show week! We have taken Baylor every year other than the one where he was 2 months old. Lori took him his first time, last year we both went, and this year it was him and I. Who knows what next year will be because he already invited Grandma and Buddy to go along. Of course the first exciting thing was the school bus ride. Lori will freak when she sees I took him out in public in his red jacket, my green scarf, and his blue and black hat. I always seem to have him all jacked up when it comes to clothes. But he looks so cute I don't care!
We were there at 9:30 and first stop was the food, mainly because it was not crowded and no lines. My choice was the fried cheese because how can that not be delicious?
And they were in all their crunchy, cheesey, gooey, tomatoey goodness! I did get fried mushrooms but no photos of them as we were on the move by the time I bought them.
Baylor's first choice was a donut. I bought a dozen to take into work, because I am nice like that.
He loved it even if it did not have any frosting and sprinkles. He actually ate the whole thing. Unusual because he usually just licks off the frosting and sprinkles and leaves the rest.
His next choice was a chocolate milkshake, just like last year.
Then it was off to the exhibits. We saw a sow and her piglets.
A lady showing the parts to a peep, including the belly button.
He only sat on one tractor this year. He was really interested in a John Deere with a wagon and since we could not find one, he really did not care to sit in anything else. I practically had to force him onto this one for a picture.
He did want to sit on the combine but it was part of an exhibit and not available to sit in.
Off to see more animals. We found the llamas and alpacas.
The cows being shaved for show. I think it looks ridiculous but what do I know about cows other than milk and steaks.
We saw the sheep this year. Some in where apparently part of some secret society and wore coats with hoods.
Others were there all woolly for us to see.
And some gave nose kisses.
One piggy was cute and fuzzy and walked around the spice booth. I love that booth and found citric acid to make bath fizzies!
We saw the bees again.
And found the corn bin. I could have left him her and walked the rest of the place and he would have been just as happy. If Lori had gone along she would have been happy to sit on the bench and watch him play.
Sitting on the ground reminded me of a field trip I took in second grade. I don't remember exactly where we went because it was a long time ago but where ever it was had an old school room. I remember I volunteered to try an old school punishment: kneeling on the floor with a stone or kernel of corn under your knees. I do remember that part because it hurt and 33 years later it still hurts!
They have a dug out canoe made by the archaeological society.
Baylor got to be an Indian for a few minutes.
The winning pumpkin and my little pumpkin.
The butter sculpture.
And back to the corn bins.
On the way out we saw the chickens, roosters, peeps, and rabbits.
And some more cows.
And at 1:30 it was packed and we were out the door back to the bus and home.
Until next year!
