My New Noisy Maker

Gloria went out and replaced my noisy maker, and I got an upgrade!!!  (Love her)  

It is a six quart bowl, professional series model.  Very Fancy!  

Play Date Part II

Sunday arrived and it turned out to be another beautiful day.  Tara and Lucas were off to an early start and arrived in no time at all. We were so happy to see them and the boys got right down to playing and we got right down to talking!  We sat on the patio and the boys played trains on the concrete and then played in the little pool.  I suggested we take a walk to the creek because I know both boys love to throw rocks into water.  It was a short walk for us Mom's but the boys rode in the wagon for part of it.  We had a lot of rain the end of the week and to say the creek was swollen would be a bit of an understatement.  There is usually a long, rocky beach to walk on but today there was just a bit of sandy creek side to walk on.  Most of the rocks were under water but they were able to find enough to throw.  

Baylor was willing to get his boots full of water in order to walk out as far as I would let him.  He was not afraid he would wash away but I certainly was!  

I am not sure I would float as well as he would, if he would float at all.  The water was moving super fast!  

And it was super cold!!  Like freshly melted snow, even though that is all gone!  

The bucket came in handy for carrying water and rocks but it is a rather cheap one and we ended up breaking out the bottom.  Which ended up accidentally floating away in the current down the old canal.  

Lucas took a brief break in the wagon.  Splunking is hard work!  

On the way out, with Baylor in soaked socks and boots, they raced out the trail. 

Both of them had another wardrobe change before a bit more playing, a movie, Monsters vs Aliens, and some dessert of cookies and strawberry rhubarb crumb pie Tara brought up from the famous Mom's Apple Pie.  It was amazing.   

The boys were sad to say good bye but Tara and I already planned our next visit, this time at her place!!  

After they left we watched the movie again, or at least he started watching it. It must have been a good day!! 

And it was.  I love our play dates and enjoy my adult friends!!! 

Play Date Part I

Saturday was to be a double play date with Cullen and Lucas.  Unbeknownst to Tara and Lucas there was a flea market going on down the road on Rt 15.  With all the additional traffic on a road that at points is a two lane highway, she ended up going about and mile and a half in about two hours.  We agreed they should just turn around and try again on Sunday.  But while Baylor and Lucas were sad to not see each other, Baylor and Cullen did enjoy the day playing together.  Julie and I enjoyed sitting on the patio, talking, and eating!  She is pregnant with her second son and I am looking forward to August when he arrives.  I was not chasing the boys around this time and I just let them have fun with anything they wanted.  The only time I broke out the camera was to get a good bye hug of them.  

Cullen is going to be tall when he is grown up.  He is already a size ahead of his age and has always been taller than Baylor.  Hopefully Baylor will not end up a shorty like me!  

After Cullen left, Baylor rode the bikes into the garage. This was his first bike that Meme and Pap gave him on his first birthday.  I think he is a bit big for it now but he can still manage it.  Baylor wants to pass it on to baby Adam but they do not have a place to keep it at their apartment right now. 

Here Comes the Rain Again

April Showers do bring May flowers and three and half inches of rain in one night in May helps out a lot! In fact we got the last inch of rain in just over an hour in the morning!   I bought a new rain gauge because the old one cracked even though we bring it in every winter.  I feel like an old farmer measuring the rain but I love doing it!

My orange crush still loves orange but will wear other colors this year as well. 

I killed my noisy maker making bread. I stripped the gears I believe.  This was my first KitchenAid and Gloria bought it for me about 12 years ago.  It has severed me well and I really felt bad killing him the way I did.  Bye Bye noisy maker!  

Mother's Day Weekend

Baylor's first best friend was Peeper, a little chick.  He latched on to him when he was in the throes of teething. I remember him sitting there tears streaming down his face, drooling running out of his mouth, and damp Peeper being moved from hand to hand, back and forth.  I quickly located a few more Peepers to put into a lovey rotation.  They were by then discontinued and harder to come by but I found four more and a few other friends who were in the same toy line; a cat we named Whiskas, a martian we named Marty, a bunny and a dog. I cannot remember their names but I will ask Gloria, she will remember.  Peeper was even Baylor's 1st birthday cake 

Not long after he turned one, he moved on to woobie, a flannel, terry and taggie number I had made him.  Woobie has been number one since but Peeper still comes out to play.  Friday Baylor had me take him to work so I took a photo to prove he was there.  

At school the kids had been working on Mother's Day gifts and oddly the still had Baylor only make one.  He was very proud of it, the decorated wrapper, the decorated cigar box and the little figurine inside.  

We brought Grandma a spinning flower for her Mother's Day gift and the two of them put in out front in the garden so she could see it out the window when she is on the couch.  

We brought our bubble gun along as well because bubbles are still super fun!  

Saturday morning we went to the Herb Faire as is our usual Mother's Day trip.  Baylor loved the mill stones again this year.  While he was racing around them I found a wonderful green wire praying mantis garden ornament.  I love garden art and the mantis was a wonderful and meaningful addition to our collection.  

We ate an early lunch there as I can always count on Baylor eating their chicken corn soup. Mom and I split a chicken crepe which was delicious. I was very good at not over doing the plants this year and only bought four tomato plants, instead of six or eight as in the past!!!  On the way out we were part of the small group of people watching this poor bat trying to climb the tree.  Since the cannot launch themselves in the air I would guess he was trying to get high enough to fly off or at least wait unit dark.  He was fun to see and Baylor of course was not scared a bit!   

We went home Saturday evening because Meme and Pap were coming over Sunday for Mother's Day.  I ended up making dandelion jelly which was Baylor's request.  Since I had made the violet and he loves the dandelions he asked if we could do those as well.  I looked it up and the process was exactly the same.  A bucket full of dandelions later, some sugar and stirring, we had jelly.  

Pleasures of Spring

Four cubic yards of mulch were delivered on the parking pad today. 

A blessing and a curse all in one pile. It will be here until at least August.  

While watering the newly seeded yard, Baylor took to opportunity to run through the sprinkler.  He said it was the best day ever.  

He even attacked the water with his sword saying he was wearing them down.
