Photo Dump

Lori stopped at a yard sale and found a three wheeler and a gas tank. He loves them both especially the gas tank.  He runs out of gas all the time and now can fill up when ever he wants to.

Meme bought him a scooter like Otto in a Toot and Puddle book.  He does really well on it.

Monday and Tuesday Lori and Baylor went to Meme's.  We have a deal, If you leave, I will weed.  And this time I mulched also.  It does not look like I did much but I moved at least half of it.  Honestly, I would rather weed than shovel mulch, twice.

When they were away Baylor wanted his hair cut like Connor's with spikes.  I love his hair longer because he looks so much younger.  I think he looks like he is four or more with his hair cut.  I am sure it cooler for him and I do love his face no matter what his hair looks like.

I also put in a bird bath for Baylor's birds.  The jug is hanging from a shepherd's hook and has a small hole in bottom to drip into the saucer.  It may be a bit tacky but much more affordable than the ones online.  See my driving master in the yard doing circles around the castle?  Why is it the only thing he runs into is my minivan?

Meme also bought him a new hummer feeder.  This boy loves his birds.  It could have stayed up there but that is ok. We have lots of hummers to feed.

Baylor loves his books also.  He asked Grandma to read The Grumpy Dump truck which is a really cute book, especially for a little boy who loves his construction vehicles.

They looked at a house in the area and I am hoping Dad gets off the pot and moves!  I would love them 10 miles away instead of over 50.  I met them at Wegmans for lunch which was a nice treat for all of us.  We all love Wegmans and it is another reason for them to move!

A Train we can ride

When we were on vacation, Baylor was devastated that we could not find a train to ride when were were at Horseshoe Curve.  I knew we would be taking a trip to Strasburg today and told him we would be going soon to ride a train. We met my high school friend Stacy and her family at her house and headed to the station.  It is about 5 miles from there house so it was a short trip.  However, we arrived just as the 12:00 train was pulling out.

We waited an hour at the station until the next train. Baylor ran around the station while baby Ian took a nap in his mother's arms.  The train arrived back at the station on time and Baylor was super excited!

The happy new family, Ian, Stacey, and Marshall. It was Ian's first ride on the train, but I am not sure he will remember it!

He waited a bit impatiently for the train to get moving.

Ian woke up for a bit and found his thumb.  He decided he was hungry after a bit and had a snack and another nap.  Does two bits make fifty cents or a dollar?

Baylor spent most of the ride with his head out the window.  Thankfully they are held up very well and there was little fear of it coming down.  I know, I know but I am a mom. I think of these things!

At the end of the tracks, the train moves to the front of the train to take it back to the station. Baylor watched the whole thing, head out the window.

I forgot to turn off the flash and he forgot to take his fingers out of his mouth!

We went back to Stacey's house and ate ice cream with sprinkles.  We walked to the park across the street from their house and let Baylor play off any more energy.  It did not take too long and he wanted me to carry him back.  I asked him why and he said he legs were broke.  It amazes me how he can reason like that but cannot tell me when he has to pee to go on the potty.  This too shall pass.  He was asleep in no time and has been sleeping for the last two hours in bed.  He will love to tell his story to Momma when he wakes up.

Mark

Sunday began with my usual coffee and today Baylor wanted one too.  It was a lot of milk and a splash of coffee.  He loved it.

After our breakfast and coffee we had some running around to do.  We went to a local garden center and found a new friend for Fred.  He is a goldfish with markings and we ended up naming him Mark.  Funny how we are also friends with a Fred and Mark.  Crazy universe we live in.

Since we brought Mark home, Fred has been much more social and coming out of the cave at the bottom of the pond. They swim around together and play at the surface.  It is fun watching them.  Fred likes to shower in the fountain and Mark likes to steal all the fish food. I am sure they will work it out, it is their first day together after all.  Fish are hard to photograph!  We also brought home an as yet unnamed snail that is the black lump on the side with the white looking foot attached to the side of the pond.

There is Fred coming out of the cave.

Baylor ate outside all day today in the sweltering heat of May.  It was hot!! But he loved his first corn on the cob for this year.

After lunch he had to check out his fish friends and test the water.  He sneaks a dip whenever he can. Today he was looking in at them and I think dipped his nose into the water.  My water baby!!!

Welcome to the family Fred, Mark and snail yet to be named.

Fred

Grandma Karen and Grandpa Ron arrived home from vacation yesterday and we had planned to visit them today to catch a fish in their ponds for our pond.  Ron has two nice sized ponds and we have a half barrel sized pond so we have room for one of his sized fish.  Before Baylor when I took Eddy every where with me, she fell into the pond Baylor is looking into.  It was deep enough she could not touch the bottom and I had to pull her out.

Grandma Karen brought out the fish chow because it is always fun to feed fish.

Fred is in there somewhere.

Ron caught one fish on the first pass and it was a small one.  He said they are called fan tail comets.  He is pale gold.  A spotted one would have been nice too but they were all pretty big.

Lori held the bag on the way home to avoid a Finding Nemo incident and Fred took to his new crib quickly.  Baylor gave him some food but he never came up to get it.  He found the cave I created for him and spends a lot of time so far swimming in and out of it.

Here he is peaking out at us.

Fish are hard to photograph I found out.

Hopefully we can give him a good home and in the winter bring him inside as long as he survives Baylor.

Rock Lobster

When Lori came across this shirt, she did not like it at all and wanted to donate it.  Since I had just bought it, I nixed that right quick.  It was a big hit at day care. Addy kept telling her mom Baylor had eyes on his shirt.  He has a white shirt with a shark on it with the big eyes too.  I love them.

We have been having thunderstorms roll in every evening this week and we picked a bunch of flowers from the garden right before a big storm hit.  There were 3 or 4 tornados associated with the storm but nothing came close to our house.  I love all the colors of spring flowers but now most of them are blown over in the garden.

We are looking forward to a good weekend filled with lots of family.  It is a good thing!

May 21, 2011

If this is the end of the world as we know it, I think I could be pretty comfortable with the new world.  It somehow seems very familiar to me.  Meme is visiting for the weekend and we spent the day outside.  They played together and I weeded.  These 40 days and 40 nights of rain have caused everything to grow like weeds.  Especially the weeds! But it was a nice, sunny, and lovely day to be outside.

Earlier this week, I decided to create a pond on our deck.  We have some plants in there now and the fountain is running.  Next Saturday we are going to Grandpa Ron's and he is going to give us a few goldfish from his ponds.  It will be interesting to see how it goes because Baylor thinks this is a good place to play right now.  He puts stuff in it and takes water out.  The plants end up on the table, rocks go in and never come out.  Hopefully the hiding place I have created under the slate slab with give them a place to go.

We had to get a new bubble machine already.  We are pretty tough on them. This is my favorite as it works the best, but the bubble container falls off all the time because he thinks he needs to move the machine all the time.

I planted the three tomato plants, four cucumber plants, and some of the annuals.  But I need to do some more weeding before the rest go in the ground.

Baylor 'mowed' the yard most of the afternoon.  By mowing I mean Meme pushed him around on the John Deere because he won't peddle it.  His legs are a bit short still for him to get the right rhythm.

I have never mentioned this before but I am a champion dish stacker.  It is a talent I learned from my mother and she learned from a neighbor when we lived in Las Vegas.  I have piled them higher than the cabinet before.  It is all about balance and it is a skill I am very proud of!

I knew we will wake up tomorrow and life will go on.  It is not such a bad thing and we have a pretty good life.

Take care.
