Snow

This week we had a good snow fall and Baylor played in it every night when we got home. And I often run out to take a photo of the sunset over the woods out back.   Somedays they turn out better than others.  

In the fresh powder he made a snow angel.

And the basement doors made a nice slide.

He had a blue tray from the outside toy box that he filled with lots of snow for an experiment.  

But he still had some playing to do.  

And hoeing of the snow.  He loves to whack at the snow with whatever tool he can find.  

When he came in his scarf was covered in snow balls.  I had to hang it in the shower while the snow melted.  

He wanted to do an experiment with the tray of snow.  He ran water in it to see how fast it would melt with hot water or cold water.  

He also helped me with decorating some Paw Patrol cookies for Lucas's birthday party this weekend.  We are looking forward to our adventure and celebrating his fifth birthday.  He helped level out some of the icing and pop the air bubbles.  

I offered to help out if Tara needed me to and she asked me if I could make decorated bone cookies to give as the party favor.  Since decorating cookies is right up my alley I of course said yes.  Baylor was so disappointed he could not eat more than one cookie but I did not want to take the chance of eating too many and then not having enough for Tara.  I also made one batch of vanilla cookies that were more crumbly like a dog biscuit for some variety.  

44th Birthday Followed by The Aunts Meeting

When I arrived at work my desk was decorated for my birthday.  

Balloons and streamer and a banner.  

And in the afternoon, we had cake!!  I don't feel 44 but I guess that is a good thing.  

After work and picking up Baylor I meet my parents and Gloria at Hosses.  Time for birthday selfies!  

When we got home we had cake, one ice cream cake and one my mom made.  Of course I had help with the candles.  

Before going to bed I made a batch of mascarpone cheese.  It was pretty easy involving heavy cream and lemon juice and heat.  And then staining overnight.  

Saturday was the Aunt's meeting at my house.  This year my monthly theme is dips.  I used the mascarpone cheese to make cannoli dip with broken waffle cones and vanilla wafer cookies.  It was amazing!  We took photo of all the ladies in attendance.  (front row from the left) Aunt Betty, Me, Leslie, Rachael, Lauren (back from the left) DiAnn, Mom, Lynda, Amanda, and Meghon.  We had three of the four lesbians in the family at my house!

And Eli was there and Baylor was in heaven!!  The kids ended up downstairs taking while Baylor played video games.  I wish I had my camera then!  

I had a yummy appetizer planned for dinner than night.  Mom and I made homemade blooming onions with dipping sauce.  It was delicious!!!  Mom and I shared one and Dad and Gloria shared the other.  

Farm Show 2015

This will be the last year we can take Baylor to the Farm Show during the week. Next year we will have to deal with the weekend crowd.  We picked him up from school and headed across the river to the Farm Show.  We got on the second bus and were the first on. Baylor headed straight to the back.  It was a quick ride to the food and fun!  

We ate first of course.  It was Baylor's lunch time anyway.  He wanted fires and a chocolate shake.  I wanted fried mushrooms and Gloria picked up some sliders with different meats on each one.  I would have loved a deep fried mozzarella but there was just no more room for food!  Baylor has pretty much out grown his love for tractors but we walked though them anyway looking for Jarrett and his family.  He took off work to go to the Farm show as well.  We found them on the other side of the combine.  

Owen is just two and a half so he is just getting into the tractors and farm animals.  I took them into the small barn to see the animals and around to sit on all the tractors we could get him on.  

 Behind the blue curtain wall was the farm toy vendor.  Baylor picked out a ginger kitty and a small hedgehog with his money Meme sent him.  We head to the Main Hall to show them the way to the corn bin which is where I left Gloria and Baylor while I went shopping. We went through the poultry hall on the way and Baylor liked the puffy, crested chickens and we checked out the peeps pecking out of their eggs.  We also checked out the butter sculpture as well. It had to do with providing milk for all children.   A cow made out of butter, isn't it ironic?  

And took a ride on the carousel. 

Once he saw the bin, that was it, he was where he wanted to be.  They were there for most of the time while I was shopping.  He loved it.  

I checked out the gingerbread houses to see what was winning this year.  The houses were nice but I am sure one of them started as a house kit.  I think if I got my house building peeps got together we could do just as good as these.  

I bought a whole bunch of herbs and spices.  They packages are all around a dollar a piece and are so much cheaper than shopping at the grocery store.  

Like this huge bag of bay leaves for $1.00!  I shared with Bob because that is too many even for me.  

The boys also played on the play fort.  Apparnetly Owen was a bit nervous to go up the ramp.  Baylor helped him up the first time and took him down the slide. After that Owen was pushing kids out of his way to get back up to the slide!  Jarrett sent me this photo of the boys going down together.  I love Baylor's staticy hair-fro.  Owen will be a big brother in two months.  I wish Baylor was too!  

Ravens vs Patriots

We don't watch a lot of football, except when the Ravens are in the play offs.  My brother and sister in law are Patriots fan so my niece is as well.  She is just a super cutie!!!  

While they supported the Patriots from their house is TN. we had on our purple for the Ravens here is PA.  

The toasted our team with their beers, a lager and a root.  Our team lost unfortunately but we had a nice family evening anyway!  

2015 And So it Begins

This last week has been filled with putting together several sets of Legos that ended up taking over our table.  We ended up putting his train table in his room and the Lego sets on the table so they had a place to sit and not be destroyed so quickly.

Grandma and Buddy gave him a Batman towel for Christmas and he loved it.  He could not wait for it to be washed so he could use his cap!!  He has the Superhero look down pat.

Even dressed in his Superhero shirt he wanted to wear the towel.  The cap makes the look complete.  

New Year's Day we spent the day at home alone with a crock pot of pork and homemade sauerkraut cooking on the counter all day long.  It was amazing with mashed potatoes.

Baylor was the only one who did not have any pork or sauerkraut good luck in the New Year.  Grimm and Eddy even had some pork.  Happy 2015!
