All You Can Eat Churros

Baylor did not have swim class today because the pool was closed due to a propane shortage while gave me some time to get ready for our play date with the McGraws.  And also I had time to play with my hair.  This was not the effect I was going though when I twisted sections of my hair tight and secured it down the night before.  I did wet it and went for my natural look.

I had a taco theme going on and made Churros as well.  Baylor loves them and I think he ate over half of them during the day.  The floor was rubblely with a trail of cinnamon sugar.

I also made papusas with the papusa cheese I had picked up at CoCo's in VA.  Sadly I found out I am not a fan.  They are pretty dry and bland.  Oh poop.

I brought out a travel pillow bed for Lochlan but Eddy found it first and made herself comfortable.  Eventually we lured her out of it and put Lochlan in to play and try to nap.  I sent it home with them as we don't need it and I had wanted to give it to them before anyway.

I was trying to get him to take a selfie and he lost it on me.  We don't know what set him off but he is close to the age where he would start to know faces and I am not a face he knows well.  But for the most part we had a good time cuddling and I love spending time with the girls.  We watched The Book of Life twice while we were sitting and talking.  The boys played in the attic with the trains.  Cullen was obsessing over the trains and Baylor does not play with them anymore so they are in the attic.  I told him if he wanted to play I would put him up there (it was really cold) and after lunch up they went.  They came back down for hoodies and slippers.  They worked together and made a huge track with a lot of engines and cars and bits.  After they were done with that, they played outside in the snow and mud.  They had a good time and came in wet and muddy.  Cullen had to borrow a pair of pants for the trip home!  You know it is a good play date when a change of clothes is required.

I took a few selfies with my other little boy and he looks just as made as Loclan got!

Please Pass the Smile

Jarrett, one of my co-workers brought his son in the office for a bit and I played with him for a bit while he was getting a few things done.  We played with my smile on a stick and the camera of course!

She is starting to warm up to me. Usually he will only stay with me while Jarrett is standing there.  He is 2.5 and is pretty shy but we had fun together.

Gloria started an evening job working at a small plumber's doing dispatch and billing a few nights a week so she does not have to work OT in the cold warehouse.  But that means Baylor and I are alone and can do whatever we want.  Not that we don't usually do that anyway.  Tonight Baylor made himself cozy on the bench with Eddy beds and pillows to eat his dinner while watching Wild Kratts.  He loves the show and I love how fast he picks up on the animal facts.

And behind him was a sky that was unfortunately not captured very well by the camera.

The Cold Never Bothers Us Anyway, At least if the Sun is Shining

The snow fell all night and we had about 4 inches by morning.  When I was running the tap I thought the water was super cold.  I took its temperature and it was just under 50 degrees.  Now I am not sure how cold it is usually but I would think it is usually higher than that.

Being Sunday, Gloria was not around to help with the snow removal.  And I don't use the snow blower so it is all pushing and shoveling for me.

Baylor was off playing with the girls.

And Grimm was stalking us from the living room window.

I tried to get the kids to pose for my but you know how they are....

Nearly there.  Thankfully the sun was out so after the driveway was showing, it started to melt a bit.

The snow was a good snow ball rolling snow and the kids were building snow people everywhere.

Finally I was done!  And tired.  But the kids were still building snow people so I looked around the yard for some decorations.

And I found my first praying mantis egg casing.  I fell blessed to know we will have little mantis again this year.

Mandy asked the girls to build a family of snow people along the field.  She does love to direct their play!

But I think the botanical bits added to their personality.  She has Pippy Longstocking pony tails.

He does love playing in the snow and is not above crawling in the snow.

He built his own snowman in the field.

With a smiling stick mouth.

And when we came inside, he had hot cocoa with marshmallows and whipped cream!

First Day of Swimming Class

It was another beautiful sunrise and while I miss being able to see the from the deck (it did make a difference when I wanted to take a photo) I still enjoy seeing a beautiful start to the day.

.

He started level II swim class at 10:30.  Apparently there are two boys in the class and the other boy was sick.

Baylor had Mr Nate's full attention and poor Baylor did not get any breaks because it was always his turn!! It was another cold day so Gloria took off work and was there with me to watch him be amazing with his epic swimming skills.

Because all of a sudden he was at the other end of the pool!  I forget what I was doing and I looked up and he was not at the usual end of the pool.  He had a kick board of course but he made all the way across and back with little support.

And rather early in the evening, he crashed with Grimm on the couch.

My boys!

And one of them is quite chunky.  He went to the vet's and has put on a lb in the last year!!  Oops. Hopefully it was just him getting used to his new life and not something he is going to continue.

And while the boys were sleeping, the snow started falling!!

And Today is Friday

Another morning well below freezing, like 1 degree or less.  So I brought out the bubbles on our way to the car to freeze some with Baylor.  They do have to land on something for them to freeze.

Baylor tore a few that landed on the outside toy box.

He took a few selfies after work that are always fun to find on my phone.

After a year I think these two are friends.  Or Eddy is normally just too nice to boot Grimm off the bed.  But sometimes she finds her own corner to rest her bones.
