Just a Few Selfies

 My little man grows right before my eyes which just amazes me.  And in many ways he is still a little boy who needs cuddle time with his mommy.  Which is OK with me.  

My daughter in a dog suit also needs our cuddles. She is an old girl and a good girl and we love her to bits.  

Happy 4th Birthday Brigid

Saturday morning we headed to Red Lion for our May Aunts Meeting at Lynda's house.  She has not had a meeting in years and it was nice seeing her little house again.  None of the other younger kids were there so poor Baylor had to play alone when I was visiting with the family.  He brought some toys along with helped but he was more often bored and asking for me to play with him.  

Lynda brought out some chalk and we both decorated the sidewalk and wall for her.  

After brunch, we headed to Heather's camp for Brigid's birthday party.  At a light I saw this sign at a local business.  I was reminded how nice it is to live in a country where people are free to say what they want, and not worry about the government coming after them.  

Heather had the camper and grounds decorated in a pink camp birthday theme.  It was lovely. 

And we had a nice party between the rain!  It was a 50% chance of rain and we won that lottery.  It rained for around an hour and a half.  But we made the best of it between the tents and camper.  The kids watched a movie and when the rain was over, we ate lunch and had a nice afternoon.  We always bring Baylor's bike and the boys took a few trips around the camp grounds.  

Heather found a lot of clever ideas online for the party like the goldfish and pretzel rods snack bags.  

Tackle box with gummy worms and frogs and Swedish fish.  

Next to that was the create your Trail Mix bar which did get a bit damp in the rain but was delicious anyway.  

I bought veggies with Ranch dip and decorated the dip container with twigs and carrots slices cut into flames.   

Heather made a Smore's cake that required toasting the marshmallow topping under a broiler.  A camper oven does not have a broiler so we had a blow torch, that was running on empty!  We did the best we could and had to throw it in the freezer again because the ice cream completely melted!  It never refroze so when it was served it was a bit soft.  But delicious nevertheless!  

We sang and she blew out the candles and ate the soupy and delicious cake!  

The boys plays some football toss and I was surprised Baylor joined in.  He is not very into tossing the ball around but seemed to have fun with the boys.  

Heather had some games planned and due to the rain we only played one, the whipped topping and cheesy poofs toss.  They had fun just suiting up in their shower caps.  

And then receiving their topping.  

Most of them did not get the concept of having to catch as many poofs and were ducking out of the way.  Baylor came in second because I was tossing them on his head.  

We did not leave until nearly 8 and Heather had hobo bags treat bags for the kids to take home.  I had to try to explain what a hobo was which was a bit lost on him but he loved getting a new stick anyway!  

Shark Tooth No More

There is one garden bed left to tackle and it is the one I dread most.  I don't know why but it is my least favorite.  I think I need to plant a few more lovely plants there, but it already has some pretty spectacular and tall plants.  I guess because I don't see it often or spend much time around it, it does not feel like an old friend.  But I am determined to clean it up as it deserves that.  A few before shots of the choked, weedy mess it is.  

The Lily of the Valley patches are doing well this Spring and smell heavenly.  

There are a few other beautiful things going on in the garden as well.  

I love my white bleeding heard and I was worried Gloria was going to pull it out because it is close to the AC unit.  But she said it was safe!  

Which is good because it was hard to find! 

I got my pink lilies from my grandma's garden and I love seeing them and remembering her. 

Eddy has been feeling poorly the last few days, her skin is irritated and she is miserable licking and scratching.  Gloria took her to the vet and they said she has a yeast infection on her skin.  They gave her a steroid shot and we have to get over the counter yeast fighting cream.  My poor baby girl.  She is almost 14 and we want her to be happy and comfortable at all times!  

When we were doing Baylor's homework he was showing me how far his tooth was moving.  It was laying straight out which gives me the heeby-geebies!  He let me try it and while it was rattling against his shark tooth, it was still holding on pretty good.  I am not one to pull a tooth without his permission, that happened to me and while I survived, it definitely puts a damper on trusting people.  

He went with Gloria to the vet and I got a call while they were waiting.  The tooth had been extracted, and he did it himself again.  I had sent them with a tissue and a bag and I am glad I did. He was very proud of his new smile. 

And ninja moves!  

The tooth fairy left two gold dollars and a Playmobil figure.  He was quite pleased with her!  

We Will Have Strawberries

Gloria has not been working her evening job this week and it now odd to have her around. But we worked together on cleaning out Baylor's garage, throwing away broken toys and sweeping out leaves, dirt and broken chalk.  And trying to keep out the millions of maple seeds flying in our yard!  They drift on the driveway like loose snow.  

We had to buy a new battery charger for the four wheeler and Lori thought she would take it for a spin around the driveway.  

It is not quite like the forklifts she is used to.  

And I finaly put in a strawberry bed.  We lost ours when we put on the addition and last year I never took the time to redo it.  I wanted it in a defined bed and did not want to use my bricks again.  I finally went to Home Depot and bought some edging and put it up.  I had to buy new strawberries because one a few survived the move and the new location last year.  They are ever-bearing so we should have some later in the summer.  

And with our mantis looking after them, they should be safe!  And they are already covered in maple seeds! 

Mother's Day Weekend

Saturday morning I headed off to Mom's, sans Baylor because Gloria was off and Meme and Pap were expected in the afternoon.  Mom and I went to the Herb Fair, our Mother's Day tradition.  I held myself back from buying any tomato plants because last year we did not eat any of them, I froze the few that did not end up rotting on the vine.  I love growing them but we just did not eat them.  Maybe next year!  I bought a few herbs and a recycled item dragonfly garden stake.  I love buying garden art!  Then we went to Stauffer's to find some annuals for our containers.  I had bought her a hanging basket, a deck hanger for the basket, and the potting soil but no plants!  I picked out a few as well for my patio pots.  We headed to her house for lunch and before I left we cut some lilacs and took a Mother's Day selfie.  I am glad we are close and able to do things together.  

Sunday was a mix of whatever I wanted to do.  Since I had spent the day with my mom, it was my day to my things.  In between weeding, when I needed a break, I played video games with Baylor!  He was right, Mommy likes to play games with him.  And while weeding, I found my 12th mantis egg case.

Gloria was able to spend the day with her mom as well!  It was a good Mom-filled weekend!  It is good to be the Mom!
