Sprinkle Lips

Crappy photos from the craft store but I am making one of these photo frames this Summer.  I have the frame I got for free at work.  I just need to paint it and do all the other parts.  I did pick up the small clothespins so they will be ready when I am done with the frame. 

While walking around I came across the Halloween wreaths they were starting to put out.  In July, I cannot think about Halloween.  I just cannot do it!!

I was making the cookies for the reunion cookie walk.  One of them was a sprinkle cookie and Baylor had to taste the sprinkles of course.  While wearing swimming goggles, of course.  Proper eye protection is important while one's lips are covered in orange sprinkles.  

First Day of Level Three Swimming Class

I had to work from home today because Baylor had his first day of swimming class and Gloria could not take him because her Mom was having a catheter procedure to check a heart valve and she needed to be at the hospital for her mom.   The sunrise was beautiful and orange this morning.  Hopefully it is a good sign for the day.  

I took Baylor to class at 9 and we had to usual run up the stairs and sitting on the edge waiting for me to make it up there.  

He was super excited to start class. There were four other kids in his class.  I think he was the youngest on there but the one girl was smaller than him.  I hope he will be able to hold his own in class.  He only had one level two and I don't practice with him in our pool.   

He did great swimming the length of the pool but in the end was not able to jump off the diving board into the deep pool. He walked out to the edge and even had a noodle for safety but just could not get up the courage to jump.  It is now part of class, just a fun part at the end so I was not too worried about it.  We spent the rest of the day at home, me working and him playing.  Eddy tolerated the wet towel for a bit.  Good girl!  

Baylor and I had dinner together as Gloria and Pap were still not home again.  Baylor did dinner theater doing scenes from Ice Age III with his broccoli.  He was very entertaining.  Meme did well but was kept for the night as the last time they did the cathe she bleed a lot into her leg.  

Bread Gone Wild

Baylor loves his new large sparkle eyes he found at beach.  We added the two large penquins and the camo owl to the three small penguins he already has.  Only one of them joined us for the photo shoot though. 

While Baylor was playing with his large eyed friends I was on the phone with my brother.  I had bread up in the attic to rise.  We were on the phone for a long time and the attic was already pretty hot by mid morning.  The bread rose super high and was ready to collapse.  

But they baked up nice and golden.  One for us and one for Pap and Meme to take home.  

A River of Rocks

Baylor and I spent the morning at the creek collecting rocks, playing in the water, playing with a dog that belonged to a family also playing at the creek.  The dog was a chocolate lab who loved playing fetch, over and over and over and over and over. You get the picture.  Baylor did not tire of throwing the ball either so they made a good team.  The rocks were for a summer project I have been working on and thinking about finishing before Fall.  

I made one creek bed storm drain a few weeks ago and started on the second one for the back yard with my new rock collection.  It took over one bag of concrete for this one and a lot of rocks.  

The blackberries are starting to come in!  I am so excited.  I have had the patch for many years but we have never had much of a yield on the young vines. This Summer I put in a big support system and the vines took over.  There are red berries all over the place waiting to turn black and tasty! 

I love these orange day lilies and I think I got them from Molly's porch.  They look lovely with the black-eyed Susan's in the background. 

The blue bottle tree has not caught any witches this year but that must mean it is working keeping them away.  

Adding To the Beach Bathroom

The first thing I did when I got home was print a few photos from both vacations but especially a picture of Baylor on the beach to add to the collection in the main bathroom.  The small white frame on the bottom right is Eddy on the beach in 2008 I believe it was.  The one above it with the store bought frame that says Rehoboth was from 2010 when he was 17 months old and the first time the ocean touched his toes.  The blue one below it was from 2012 on his second day at the beach. We collected the sand and shells and decorated the frame together.  The upper left photo is from 2014, I bought the frame and added the sea star.  And the striped frame is 2015 which I bought along with the two signs up there as well.  

I plan on adding to this wall for each time we go to the sea, as a reminder to him every time he stands there to pee, the memories of the time spent at the sea.  I am planning ahead!  

I even added a map of the town to the opposite wall. 

Gloria took him for a hair cut this week and they did a better job at cutting it longer on the top and the sides short.  He loves it! And I need to watch my eyes when I give him kisses, I end up getting stabbed in the eye with a spike!  

Oh what a beautiful morning!  I like the look of the long thin clouds this morning.  

Meme and Pap came down for an appointment and brought Eddy home.  We have not seen her in almost a month and we all missed her very much.  I am not sure she was ready to be done with vacation but she settled in right away.  At 14, she is still a beautiful looking girl.  Her puppy looks have not really faded.  

Last Days of Vacation

Thursday Baylor and spent the day at home while Gloria worked some OT.  My sister in law put this photo of Presley on FB and I had to steal it.  She is growing into quite a cutie.  

Friday morning Baylor and I drove to Camp Hazel to spend a night with them.  Baylor has asked to have a sleep over with them for a long time.  This was a good weekend for both Heather and me as we are both busy most weekends in the summer with something.  It turned out to be a great weekend for all of us.  I got to sit by a fire and talk to adults and Baylor got to play and be a kid with other kids within the safe boundaries of the camp ground.  I even practiced chopping wood.  Their wood was knarly cherry wood and much harder to break down than the dry pine we had when we were camping.  I had to make wood for the morning because I knew I would be the first one up in the morning and would need to start the fire.   

The night time fire included adult beverages in which I may have had a bit too much but I tried to keep myself under control!  We used the fire color packets too and the green/blue fire was a nice way to end the day.

I was the first one up and walked the dogs so everyone could sleep in.  I made the fire, nearly perfect morning for me, and when everyone was up we tried roasting cinnamon rolls again.  This time I bought the jumbo rolls and they unwrapped easily and were easy to wrap around the stick.  The first one was a bit dark on the bottom but I ate that one. 

Baylor even gave it a try.  He liked it well enough.  

Brigid was a happy morning camper!  

Mom and Dad come over for lunch on Saturday. We had a nice lunch and afternoon.  The kids went tubing and played in the creek a lot.

 The kids figured out they could share the hammock rather than fight over it.

I was on fire patrol and happy to just feed the fire all day long.  

He was out on the drive home and stayed asleep until morning.  A tired kid is a happy kid.  Or is that for just dogs?  

Sunday I walked around the neglected jungle/garden and was happy to see all the different lilies in bloom.  Monday is back to work but this vacation made me feel more relaxed and like I was on vacation.  It was a good thing.
