Aunt's Meeting

Jack got a makeover so he can stay for summer.  Herringbone washi tape looks a lot like baseball stitching.  

Jake had his first sleep over at Grandma and Buddy's house.  He did really well, but he was on the leash for the entire time in the house.  I did not want him bugging Dad's dog and Jake would not have left him alone if he could get to him.  

It was a super small gathering, Mom, myself, Diane, Aunt Betty, Heather, and the kids.  I made Brigid a pink ombre flower cake to celebrate her birthday.  Sadly no photos and it even had a brownie first layer.   

I had to help Heather with Snapchat. Brigid knows what to do but Heather was at a loss.  Pre-editing selfie.  

Brigid took photos of the robin's nest in the wreath.  The babies are hatched but still young.  

After the Aunt's meeting Mom and I went to the local greenhouse to pick out some posies for my flower pots.  The prices are much cheaper there and it is our Mother's Day tradition to shop for plants.  We did not stay long after shopping, having Jake puts a damper on my ability to hang out or go away for a long time.  But we managed one night away from home and had a good day.  

Sunday morning I had a Mother's Day miracle, Jake did not eat Grimm's breakfast before Grimm was able to!  

But then Jake chased him off to play in the stairwell. 

Gloria was home for Mother's Day but was too sick (strep throat and double ear infection) to go see her mom as we had planned to Baylor and I abandoned her on the couch and headed to William's Grove.  We found a metal spinner and the dog bone guy.  

And the Lego man of course.  

I looked back at him sitting in the van and it struck me how much older he looked today. Like growing up and changing into a third grader and beyond.  I am not sure I am ready for that but I know it will happen whether I am or not.  

I dropped him off at Landon's, because I did not want him hanging around the sick house. I put up the canopy and mowed the grass.  Later the wind picked up.  When I went out to leave to pick up Baylor I found the wind had picked up the one end of the canopy I did not secure down and flipped it over the fence. Onto my automobile. A new scratch but nothing major.  Gloria helped me to flip it over and I weighed down the other two legs.  It was not the Mother's Day we had planned but we rolled with it and it was a good Sunday.   

My Boy and My Dog

Baylor's favorite time at the park is by the boat launch.  Jake tolerates it but is still not too sure of swimming.  He loves water in small amounts and up to his knees, after that, it is a crap shoot whether he will go any further or not. But he does like to follow Baylor onto the sides and watch the water go by.  

We had our last store before the end of the year and I snagged as many labels as I could get my hands on.  I sent them in early so the treasurer would have time to count them all.  

We took Jake to the dog park before heading to my parents for the night.  It was not for as long as we should have to get his energy out but it was threatening to rain and we still had plans to go to the Green Dragon.  But is was enough to settle him down for the ride.  His favorite part of the park is right here.  He tolerates the walks but will lay down in protest when we want to leave.  

I convinced Baylor to go with me to the Green Dragon instead of wasting time dropping him off.  I told him if they had fidget spinners there, he could get one. That was enough to stop the protesting and join me there.  He was not angry, this is his serious photo face.  

First stop he scored three for $10.00.  Happy Kid.  I found the guy that has the dog chews and discovered he goes to the Williams Grove flea market as well.  Happy Dog.  

My Only Night Out

I don't get a lot of me time. Well, Baylor does go on play dates and sleep overs but I usually have a lot of stuff to do so it is not like it is too much fun. Or I just sit and watch TV which is not very productive other than it clears space on the DVR.  I made a friend, Susan, at the last paint night and texted her about going again together.  I liked the purple cone flower painting and she agreed to it.  I made sure Baylor had supper and got his homework done.  Thankfully school is almost over so we don't have as much every night.  Susan had me checked in and set up already.  At 7, we started on our back grounds and sketched in our flowers. 

For the next two hours we painted, talked, and listened to music. 

It turned out well. Susan's is on the left.  

I need to look at the upcoming paintings and see what we can do next!  

Grimm, We Have Not Forgotten You

Poor Grimm has to spend a lot of potential family time behind a gate because Jake is a bit too playful for his taste.  Jake was outside and Grimm took advantage and came over for some lovins' and some treats, just like old times.  

I had Jake at the dog park for three hours, that is apparently enough time to wear him out so he is not interested in Grimm. It did not last too long though.  

Lower Allen Open House

May the 4th be with you today!  It was also open house at Baylor's school.  We were the first in his class there and I made sure we got a photo of him with his teacher Mrs. Failla.  She said she was really sad for the school year to be over because this has been one of her most favorite classes.  The kids have personality, but none of the bad kind.  I agree, they are a great group of kids.  I love going into the classroom and getting hugs and hellos!  

Mr. Alex has also been a great help this year and while he is starting college in the fall, he has plans to stay involved with the classes and the kids.  He is an amazing kid and will be an amazing teacher in a few years.

And Kartikey was there with his uncle and grandparents.  

We also visited his Kindergarten and first grade teachers.  This will be his last year at Lower Allen, next year it is third grade at Rossmoyne.  

Well, Crap

I did not go out at lunch so when I left for the day, the van felt funny as I backed out of the parking space.  I pulled it forward, got out and looked at the front tire.  It was pretty flat and I was not going anywhere.  

I don't carry the spare in the van but thankfully Gloria was still in the area to come get me.  We went to the house, got the spare, and I called AAA on our way back.  It was not how we were planning to spend the evening but it worked out.  It was a gorgeous early evening and Baylor decided to stay with me so he could climb the rocks around the building.  He had just has his hair cut and was looking super handsome!   

The hill was irresistible as well.

The repair guy was there within 30 minutes and was done in less.  I always say my AAA membership is the best gift I get all year from my parents.  It is rare that a year goes by that one of us does not use their service. Usually it is me though! 

All better with the full sized spare.  

We had to go to the grocery store and a train went by us while we were in the parking lot.  Finally, a train that could not stop us! 

Gloria had the day off and she took the van to the garage with the now dead tire.  The tread was gone so she bought me two new tires and had the oil changed, the front end aligned and the nail in the rear tire finally found, removed and repaired. Happy Mother's day and Anniversary to me!   

I had my hair appointment in the afternoon and finally took the plunge and cut off my hair.  I am not used to it yet but I love it.  I don't think it has been this short since I was in second grade!!
