We are half way through the 94 days of Summer!
Today Julie, Amy, and Cullen drove down for a visit. We had originally talked about a play date here with dip in the pool but Amy found The Burger Bash in Harris*burg so we decided to check it out. I don't consider myself a close friend of Harrisburg, more like acquaintances. So while I could find the venue, I was not too sure where we would find a place to park. We ended up about about 4 blocks away from the event. We, the adults, were up for the walk. Baylor who was hangry, hungry angry, was not in the mood for anything let alone walking. Dare I say Cybil had stopped by for a visit? He ended up on my shoulders and Cullen took a ride in the stroller. We could have just snuck in the back because no one was watching that end. We went to the front and paid the entrance fee because we are honest like that.
Cullen had his face painted like a pirate and Baylor just wanted his burger and fries and said no thank you to the face painting.
It was not a large event and not very well attended but I think I saw the mayor walking past me and she said Hi.
Being a burger event, there were lots of different kinds of burgers to choose from. The Brunchburger won the judging. Thankfully the booth we stopped at offered a plain burger and we bought fries from the fry vendor. After getting some food in his belly, his mood improved dramatically!
Baylor started a roaring contest. Poor kid inherited my Miller Mouth. My grandma's first impression of the man who became her husband was he had a loud mouth. My mom had the same impression of my dad. It is not that we are loud, but when we need to be heard, we can do so without yelling. We are just naturally project well.
These are some handsome boys!
They chased each other around the court yard and had a great time.
Baylor likes to play with his sleeves when he wears sleeveless shirts and was rockin' an 80s off the shoulder look.
While we were trying to see if we could find the helicopter that we could clearly hear, we also heard thunder. We never saw the helicopter but we shortly heard more thunder. The dark clouds rolled in quickly and we started back to the car just as quickly. Baylor again on my shoulders all the while telling Cullen he was not afraid because he was a brave knight. We were running away from the storm and while it was raining the whole six blocks back to the car (because the event was about two blocks long and we were already four blocks away) we pretty much stayed enough ahead of it to not get soaked. The boys decided we would take the Market St bridge over the river which turned out to be a good thing. A train was rolling over the next bridge and the rest of the drive home was chasing the train through town so we could see it. We did really well and were able to see it four different times and one was at a crossing. We were only four cars back and had a great view.
The rain made it to our home but not enough to get excited about. We all had a brownie dessert and our friends headed home.
