Baylor's school has adopted the Common Core, which in math is supposed to teach relationships and the whys of math. It is a lot of word problems, which is a problem for kids who do not read very well yet.
And it is Algebra. In First Grade. Now math is not my best subject, in fact I am not sure I could do any math the old way anyway, but if they start calculus next year, we are both in trouble.
Ewwww.... Virginia doesn't have this nonsense yet, which is good because I didn't learn it the old way and I'm sure to not get the new method!
